I have adjusted the rate on my gyro using the end point adjustment(function 12) Doing it this way I don't see how I can change my gyro rate when going to idle up 1 or 2. Is there a way to do this, or am I out of luck, or am I doing smoething entirely wrong to begin with.
I did try function 44(gyro sensitivity) but I did not have much luck with that. I was getting weird responses. I was probably doing something wrong there too.
Thanks,
Todd
Ok, here we go...... Set the travel adjust (function 12) at 150% both sides...... go to function 44 and put in about 70% for normal and about 68-69% for idle up... set the other position for 24% and that will be your rate mode for setting travel on the gyro. Use a servo wheel/arm of about 16mm... put the gyro in rate mode (25%) so that the servo will return to center. Use the gryo limit to stop the linkage from binding. (I like to have it as close to maxed out as possible without binding) Next put the gain to 100% and watch the sevo arm, if it is creeping one direction or the other go into the sub-trim menu and trim it until it will not creep between HH and rate. Change to auto in function 44 and select the proper gain setting for each idle up switch position. If it wags in forward flight decrease the gain setting a couple % at a time until it quits, then go about 2-3% more.
OOPS! Forgot to tell you to go to the dual rates and expo (function 13) and start off with about 50% d/r and 30 Exp in normal. And about 70% d/r and 35% Exp in idle up. Adjust to your liking.
These worked for me on my Rappy 50 with 95mm tail blades. I have since gone to the G7000T in my 90.
Hope this is of some help,

Thanks Jay. That helps alot. I have read all that in other places, but your explanation makes more sense to me :)
Todd
Todd,
I just edited the post. Check the D/R and Expo.

Well, it made sense until I looked at the radio. I probably should have been a little more clear. This is a PCM 10 radio not a 10s, 10sx, 10sxII, or a 10x. This is the original PCM 10. Under function 44 I only have two settings and they are selectable via the rudder dual rate switch.
Thanks,
Todd
Ok for set-up purposes use 70% and 24%. Then you can change the 24% back to 68% or so later. I fly in HH all the time so that is why I don't set a mechanical trim in rate mode.

Thanks, is there a way to have to have the gyro rate adjusted by the idle-up switch instead of the rudder dual rate switch?
Todd
All my info is from a 10X so I don't know. Maybe you could do it with a mix. The gain is not selectable via. 0....1..... setting? Like the 10x lets you select Auto or Aux3 or Inh. Auto gives you 3 selectable settings for each flight condition. Aux3 gives you 2 on the switch like you have. This is in function 44.

Nope, on the 10 you just have the two selections via the Aux3 switch. Looks like I have finally found a reason to buy a new radio. Also the manual says that all other program function having to do with Aux3 are disabled as soon as you turn on function 44, so no mixes.

Actually, if you go ahead and set it up once you find the gain setting for idle up/3d flight it will be fine in normal too. Try it before you go after that new 9303 or 10X. LOL! You might be surprised.
