Anybody out there have an HDX 450 SE? When I throttle up the tail rotor shaft bends. I've checked every screw every joint. Nothing is loose. I'm sending it back to HeliDirect for a replacement assembly. I sent it back once and they said it was just loose. This is frustrating and I've used 6 new shafts. Can't fly it long enough to wreck it.

Any suggestions or comments.

I Have had some luck with my Sonic parts in the past "swash plates" very are good!

You will have to go though and double check all screws make sure they are tight and have thread lock applied

My 2 cents

Same thing happened to me with my HDX. Helidirect sent me another and so far so good, but i do notice that it seems to be getting a little stiffer on the shaft.

Perhaps the tail bearings are toast and allowing too much movement, which in turn is hammering the tail shaft till it bends?

Disassemble the tail grips and compare the weight between the two with the bearings in them, these should be balanced, add aluminum tape to balance the grips. Also check the hub with a caliper and it should measure equally from the center to the root, If not file as needed. Balance tail rotor blades, they should be exactly balanced, Check for straightness of TR shaft, install ABEC 3 or 5 bearings on the tail rotor case. The TR spins 3-5 times faster than your main rotor, if you are running 3000 rpm HS, them it is = to15,000 rpm TS. Any slight imbalance on the tail rotor system translates to vibration enought to bend the shaft, destroy bearings or throw a blade. People need to pay attention to these things and not just slap them together. Happy turkey day!!

Just be sure to balance the TR blades and the TR assembly. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the TR spins 4-5X faster than your main rotor and any small imbalance will be amplified tremendously resulting to a bent shaft.

Does anyone have any links for ABEC 3+ bearings for the HDX450? I'm looking for all of them, not just the tail.

My 3dx450 se tail blade grips were significantly out of balance. I have used a longer screw holding the blade on the lighter grip with two extra nuts to balance it up. The blades themselves balanced up as spot on.

Some of the black control rods that the ball links attach to were missing threads and some of the allen key bolts for assembling the frame had no holes to place the allen key into . Talk about some weird quality control issues with some of the HDX parts :rolling
