Ready to put power in my Vibe and I need to know what gear ratio I should be running for a YS91. Pipe suggestions good too.
Thx.

Boxster -

I am flying the YS 91 and tried the stock ratio of 8.0 : 1 and the engine/heli were just not happy. I then switched to a 8.4 : 1 gear ratio and the machine really came alive. You will have to purchase a 10 tooth pinion and 84 tooth main gear to get to this combo. I am using the CY MPII and have been very happy. Let me know if you have any more questions or need part numbers for the pinion and main gear.

From my experience with YS engines they like the 8:45 gear ratio best. As for pipe, you can run the MP2 and it runs fine but you need to take into account that Curtis designed that pipe around the OS engines. My YS engines have a more consistent power band throughout the rpm range with the Hatori SB 16.

Thanks for the advise, I'll check it out.
I really like the quality of the Vibe we have a Stratus and EVO 90 at our field but I just fell in love with the Vibe. Still not sure about reversing the blade grips.
Thx,

Boxster,

The Blade grip flip is very easy and does not require much time. I never flew the Vibe in the stock configuration, with the grip flip it is a very agile and predicatable machine. I have been very happy with my setup, FWIW.

You can see some picture on my website of the grip flip if needed.
