I need a new radio. Looking for a balance between features and price. I was thinking the 7202 looks nice but cannot find any reviews. Anyone care to give their opinion?

It's a new product ... so somebody should be reviewing it soon.

At $300ish street price, (with a synth receiver and four $30 servos) it looks to be agressively priced for the entry level helicopter pilot.

For a nitro helicopter with a governor, you pretty much need all seven channels.

Head servos: 3
Rudder ch: 1
Throttle: 1
Gyro Gain: 1
Gov Gain: 1

The R790 rx has a separate battery connector, so you don't have to use a Y cable to use all seven channels. That's good. But you won't have room to add an onboard battery/glitch monitor.

The 7202 does not appear to do 140º CCPM. So if you think you might want that in the future, then look at the 9303.

It also lacks a governor gain mode. You will just have to use ATV settings.... likely on the gear channel.

If you are flying a 30 (or maybe 50) sized heli, the included DS821 servos will do the job. Otherwise, those servos will either be too large (for a small electric), or too weak/slow (for a 90). You may look into buying the 7202 as a bare radio, but I don't see it advertised as being sold that way. IMO, this is another reason to bump up another $100 and just get the bare 9303 TX. Then you can buy the exact servos you want.

Just from me reading the manual, I would say that the 7202 would be fine (minimum) for anything from a T-Rex to a Fury, but not some special cases like where 140º CCPM is required. It's priced right for the market.

It's sort of a rule in this hobby that you should buy the best radio you can afford as your first good radio. That way you aren't buying a second radio in a few months. Use that thought as your guide to help you make your decision.

I am flyng a trex 600 now. I doubt I will go larger than that. So it sounds like this may be a good choice for me?

Have had one for about 2 weeks now……love it, had it at L.A. Classic Fun-Fly this weekend….had no problems with channels, just ask watts open, that’s what I fly….a few seconds later I’m flying….. no sitting around waiting for an open channel……..
