I am new to heli and sims, and I wanted to simulate the real thing as much as possible. I searched the forums, and didn't find anything about this, so here it is!

How to Modify your interlink controller to remove the ratcheting on the collective for heli flight!

So your collective gimbal won't click stop, like a real heli TX

It's real easy, all you will need is a medium or small phillips (STAR) screwdriver (I actually used 2, a medium for the back cover, and a small for the ratchet bar.

1 - Unplug your controller from the computer!!!

2 - Remove the 4 screws on the back of your interlink, and lift back cover off gently (there is nothing attached to the back cover, so it should com off easily)

3 - Locate the little metal bar that puts pressure on the collective gimbal. you will see that this little bar puts pressure on the grooves on the back of the gimbal to give the ratchet feel.

4 - Remove the screw, and lift the bar out. (if you are convinced that you will never want to put it back to how it was, you can throw this away)

4B -If you don't want to get rid of the bar, turn it 180 degrees, and screw it back into place. this way it will not get lost, and if you ever want to put it back (although I don't know why!) you will know where it is!

5 - Replace the back cover and screws, being careful not to strip the plastic that the screws hold it to.

6 - Fly your sim like a real heli pilot! :glasses:

Photo Attached for reference.

PS, I have never actually touched a real TX so I don't know how the feel matches, It might feel a little loose, but 2 flights on my sim and I like it much better already!

Andrew,

To make this one step better, you can take a pair of needle nose pliers and smash the hump at the end of the tab. Then turn the tab back around which will provide some resistance to the throttle stick and eliminate the racheting. This way the throttle will stay put instead of moving due to wires pulling on the connections.

Easyest way to make it feel "real" is to not take it off.

Pull it back, so its barely not touching the gimbal. Then put a peice of fuel tubing over the metal. For even more smoothness, put a little white grease on the notches in the gimbal.

Now its smooth (even smoother than just turning it over) and also has some resistance. You can adjust the resistance by bending the metal bar slightly either way. :fly

Ultimately I replaced mine with a slightly longer piece of metal (borrowed from a picture hanger hook) no ratcheting, and nice strady pressure. The new bar can be bent to adjust the pressure, and theresistance of the stick.

I'm really happy with it now.
