3 When the tx tells you it needs to retry, go ahead and say no, and let the radio transmit on the new channel. Chances are that it did successfully change the frequency, and it'll operate as expected.
For whatever reason, the rx doesn't report that it changed, so it may not look like it worked.

Dean,
Also make sure your not doing this in a room where there is flourescent lights. There is a couple of things that will interfer with the signal during frequency communication. 2.4 ghz wireless system, flourescent lights,
Wait till a couple of lightening bolts or beeps have took place when transmitting the freq change before turning on power to the receiver.

also make sure you put the serial number in the transmitter in the proper place.

+1 on florescent lights.. I fought that battle.. Just turned off the lights or moved outside worked great every time..

Here is what has worked for me every time:
1 - Make sure the RX is OFF
2 - set channel in the TX
3 - wait for 2 chimes before hitting "YES"
4 - Turn RX "ON"
5 - look for channel 1 servo to tick around center to confirm
6 - Turn off RX
7 - Turn off TX
You should be good to go.
Tips:
Make sure the RX ID is entered in the TX
Make sure modulation is set to 2048 G3
Make sure TX battery is over 80%
No flourescent lights
Get TX antenna as close as possible to the RX antenna
Extend the TX antenna if needed
The servo on channel 1 will "tick" around center to confirm the change. It is fast and short and easy to miss!!

Make sure the antenna is fully extended! This makes a difference if there is other RF noise (like David says) confusing the G3 and creating a problem. WiFi is used to change the channel in the receiver..

Thanks guys for all the info and HELP..I have beat this thing and I can tell you all that DavidH is the man again...
What it took was to wait for the TX to send the first beep then and only then apply power to the RX..... I programed all 6 G# RX's in about 2 min.... No where does it say this in the manual.... I dont think that I would own one of these units..Im to happy with my 10x...but they are fast thats for sure...Again Thanks you gusy :noteworthy

Great info!!! Mine would not work even with DSC...until I changed my battery...it was at 60%. I guess it was not strong enough. Plus I moved outside too. It works and I can sleep easy tonight!!! Thanks guys!!!

Thanks for sharing that solution, guys.... I had the same issue on my 12Z where the transmitter was giving the go ahead to turn on the receiver a little bit too soon and the freq. would not take after many attempts. Instead, if I wait for the second beep and turn on the Rx, the frequency takes--no problem.
