The first YS motor I ever had came used to me... a YS-80 in my Predator. It ran so well when my OS looked like it was giving up on my Raptor 60, I bought a YS-60ST2 for it. I (and a group of others) installed it at IRCHA but could not get it going right. Would not start... would not stay started. Give it some throttle and it would start but either stall OR burn the clutch while I sat there cussing holding the blades till I pinched it off. I was about ready to cry at noon today :bawl

THE SECRET: When YS says the "LOW" needle they mean "IDLE". Until that little screw is set you can forget about doing anything else! The hover needle is "Mid Range" and High needle is actually is "High" ;) When I finally got it to turn over I would then adjust the "low" screw (you need a flat head screwdriver) till it ran perfectly. Then each start after that was easy. There, now you know.

Running AWESOME now :banana

The low needle on the YS affects the mid range also which also affects the high end. As you found out the low end must be adjusted first to get the motor to run <G>

Darn it I had to "fiddle" with it again today. :( I mean ONCE it starts... it runs like a top. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Dan, without being there it's hard to say, but you may have it too lean on the low end still. The low end on a YS is super sensitive, even the slightest adjustments make a real difference. The mid needle, (the longer of the two needles), is also really important on a YS. The high end really doesn't affect anything but the high end so it's the last to fine tune. You probably know, but on the YS engines the needles are backward from OS. The short needle on the YS is actually the high speed. That can really mess with you too if you're not familiar with it.

After looking at the diagram about 3 times... yep it finally sunk in.
