I just got my 7202 and am going through the setup. I want the gear swithc to enable/disable heading hold mode, but I cannot get it to work,. I have the gyro signal wire plugged into the gear channel and the gear switch set to gyro in the switch setup menu. However, flippng the switch has no effect, the gyro light will not come on solid, it just keeps blinking. With my old Spektrum radio, I had no problems.

Apparently I do not have something "turned on" in the setup. but have not been able to figure it out.

Can someone please help?

Go to the [GYRO SENS] page and set the "0" rate at about 80 and the "1" rate at about 20. Turn your transmitter on first with the gear switch in the position you want it to be in heading hold. Now turn on your receiver and see if it initializes properly. If it does you're through except for tweaking the sensitivity setting for your gyro. If it doesn't boot properly set the "0" rate at 20 and the "1" rate at 80.

yep,, plug the yellow lead into GEAR ( 5) ch on rx , then use gear ATV to set your gain .. Usually 70;30 approx .. Gear sw will switch between hh and rate modes ...

I have the switch between normal and HH now on the RUDD.D/R as foreseen in the manual, and set pos 0 to above 50% and pos 1 to below 50%, that makes sure, that the gyro comes up in HH, as I put normally all switches "back" when turning on the heli. I have 9Xv2.

Anyone using another one for the gyro ? AUX 2 for example (between ELEV D/R and HOV PIT) has even 3 positions, but that one I cannot choose in menu GYRO SENS, because it gives only the options RUDD D/R or at own defined levels depending on flight modes (which I will be using later, when it's set up).

i did this on the 9303 and the gov uses ch5 (gear) and the gyro uses aux2 for on/off. also i had to set gyro to 75% to get it to lock. it seems the gyro starts to use gain at 50% for "0" and 75% = 25% etc. Ron :dontknow

25% = 75% ? I understand, that most HH (or AVCS gyros) like Gy401 and also G500T use 0% - 50% for the normal mode (wheras 0% is highest) and 50% - 100% for the HH (100% is highest mode. 50% is 0 gain for both normal and HH. As I cannot 'reverse' the RUDD R/D channel, I have to start in position 0 with HH, only then the gyro (401) initializes properly (not blinking, but LED on in HH and off in normal). Hope that helps. I don't know if this applies also to JR gyros, but I felt like this is pretty inconvenient, why cannot gyros initialize in either mode ??!

I had a problem figureing out how to get my 401 in headinghold with my jr 9303 tx. I found this post and got it to go but how do you know if you have it set right? I got mine to work by putting postion 0 at 80 and position 1 at 20. The light goes on but is it set right? For normal mode is 20 correct or is it to low? I see this equation gain 50% for 0 and 75%= 25%, what is that telling me? I'm new to this and so far it's been a pain to figure out on this radio so any help is cool.

Thanks,
tim

Tim -

If you are using the 9303 and more than a 6 channel receiver i would use the AUX2 for Gyro (ch7) and rudder d/r is the AVCS to Normal switch

this I don't understand, thought there is only one function to control the AVCS - rate/normal mode, which is the same time also the gain function. You can assign a switch for the two and give two percentages (normally use AUX2) or let it assign automatically by the flightmodes ... so what is this additional RUDD D/R for ? Thanks a lot !

By the way, it of course would be nice to use one of the side switches (Pitch trim lever or AUX3) to control the sensitivity linear. As the Pitch trim is usually used for increasing pitch already, maybe AUX3 could be used. Or use AUX 3 for the trottle trim would also be nice ....

Inunderstand what you are asking for and the only radio I have found that does it all any way you want is the Futaba 14MZ.

The 9303 will only allow so many modifications to preset switch functions.
