First the pin that holds the arial in place broke, it was only a sliver of plastic and I have replaced it with a screw, now the roller has broken!
I took it apart and found that the base of the roller is a thin plastic pin which fits into the pot, the other end is completely free. I would not say I was rough when accessing menus but had I known it was only a sliver of plastic I would have treated it much more gently. I have superglued the pin back on and it is working but I don't know how long for, I have now come to the conclusion ther reason the DX6i is so cheap is that the build quality is C***P. Has anyone else experienced this particular failure and do you know if you can get replacement parts?

I don't think its cheap because of the plastic pin you are telling about.
It simply was a design problem. The wheel problem is well known and it's recommended to press on the right side not in the middle.
I like it and I'm assuming the risk of broken wheel than pay for other fancy and more expensive TX. I have a lot of receivers and I used it for more than 2 years without a problem.

So I do not agree that it's a bad transmitter! It's very good and definitely worth the money. Maybe you should treat the TX with care!
The problem must be put, why are all the others so expensive...not why is this one so cheap comparing with the others. Maybe because Spektrum doesn't invest so much in awareness, marketing and other expensive events...
I respect them for what they are doing and the quality of the radio sistems

I have to agree with Lulu510, this thing is not a quality build. Mine has been in for service for the rudder trim switch breaking. Basically is a step back from typical JR transmitter quality.
I realize its a value product, but switches and the roller wheel design are fragile.Sending it in if its your only transmitter is a big P.I.T.A. I own 3 other JR radios and treat them all the same and this is the only one thats "broken" through regular use. My $99. Quatro is better built.

Keep in mind that when you buy Spektrum you are not buying a JR radio. Some components, although similar in appearance, are not manufactured in the same place.

The JR 921 receiver is manufactured in Japan and carries a 3 year warranty.
The similar Spektrum 9000 receiver is manufactured in China and carries a 1 year warranty.
