Well... I have been running 4 Duralite regulators (that range between 5.3 and 5.6 volts) for the last 3 years. 2 of the 4 have been sent back to DL for checkout after crashes. I got my moneys worth.

I am now replacing 3 of them with the 6V Reg with stepdown for tail servo. Hope to get another 3 years out of this set like the last, I'll be very happy.

I will be running these with 1500mah and 1800mah EVO Li-Po packs on Ion-X, MXR and Stratus to keep it light.

How long do you guys run your regulators? Am I crasy for replacing something that was not broken?

Been using the same regulators for several years now.

Why bother with the step-down for the tail servo?

So that the rest of the electronics can use 6 volts. The tail servo is usually the only servo that can not take 6 volts for long. So the step down for the tail servo, steps the voltage down 7/10 of a volt from the rest of the voltage.
The rest of the servos benefit from 6 volts with faster speed and more torque.

I've got 5 of these regulators that I've been running for 3 years or so.. with 0 problems. I only use the regulator w/failsafe switch.

Cheers,
