View Full Version : Canopy grommet holes seem off?

Hi all,

The canopy grommet holes on the front of my lepton seem to be ok, however, once I have clipped the canopy shell onto these, the rear ones near the main shaft seem about 5mm too far forward.

I literally have to pull the body back quite firmly to clip it on at the back. This means the grommets at the back are horrible and distorted due to the pressure on them from the stretched body.

How would you guys go about solving this? I can post a pic if necessary.

Thanks!!!
Rajiv

Mine were right out of the box.

Mine too.

Mine lined up but the rear grommets were tight due to the balls used for the rear canopy mounts. I reamed those out and upsized the grommets from grommets I found at an electronics store (standard size).

the holes on my canopy are off as well, I have to really pull to get it to fit just like
abd08 does, infact the forward holes even look like they are pierced in the wrong location, not centered in the flat area

Same problem here...

The front holes are off-center, and the rear holes are short by around 3mm. The canopy needs to be stretched for the rear holes to properly line up with the mounting posts. The holes were also cut too big, so the grommets keep popping off. Whoever at Hirobo worked on my canopy must have used a spoon.

umm... so does anyone out there have any suggestions on how best to deal with this?

If I were to drill another hole, effectively creating a "rounded rectangle", how safe is it to use? Should we bother contacting Hirobo for a replacement?

If my canopy were really messed up, I'd request a replacement. It is a $600 helicoptor afterall.
