first garden hover done , shes very smooth n very quiet , at 75% throttle for 3mins solid , she just sat there , the blade sound was great , wanted to flick idle up but only got a tiny garden , so thought best not , excellent set-up rceccleston , can`t wait to get to the field :Bang

heres some pics of the latest positions batts etc , the c of g is spot on , so i`ll put all electrics inside soon , the batt n reg will be replaced by a high volt bec when possible , in the mean time , i`m off to the field for a go if not , i ain`t gonna sleep tonight

After my recent purchase of carbon sheets from eBay (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=carbon+fibre+sheet+-adhesive+-vinyl&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_sop=15&_dmpt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&_odkw=carbon+fibre+sheet+-adhesive&_osacat=0), to mod my 700e, you may wish to make a custom bottom plate to mount components i.e. esc and packs.

You may also wish to consider the Align ruder servo mount H60041 (http://www.align.com.tw/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22_72_80&products_id=1282) to reduce flex and support both ends of the servo.

Good luck at the field.

made it to the field for a proper maiden flight , and i`ll just the same as the rest , PERFECT , smooth , soooooo smooth , did the circuits bit , tic-tocs , pie dishes , all the usual , and she landed with a perfect auto , doesn`t feel heavy in the air at all , i flew with a 100% straight curve , i`ll be putting a 14T pinion on soon cos i love hyper headspeeds tho , but thats just personal taste , and as its easy to change pinions i`ll be experimenting lots . now i just need several more packs n another charger :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

i have a question for you chaps , does anyone use the cc85 gov mode , i see that a bigger pinion is needed ? plus i now have a 115T MOD1 main gear , kde hub and a mod1 10T pinion , using the cc85 in gov mode would this have much affect on duration once my packs are run in , i`m looking for a healthy 4.30 of manic fun and am wondering if mod1 10/115 may be better than 14/170 in 0.7 , any ideas anyone , thanks ady

Yes, all Castle Creations Phoenix ESC share the same governor functions.

To allow for the same heads speed in governor mode at 80% throttle, compared to fixed end points at 100% throttle, the next available pinion is required.

However, this comes at the cost of high and aggressive amp spikes, which reduces flight time.

Your gearing depends upon your desired headspeed and flight time.

Mod 1 would withstand very aggressive 3D, however, the additional height of a stock 700 main gear should be more than enough for a 12s 600e with tight meshing.

Quick update...

Ok, continued breaking in packs and did 3 flights a few min. ago. Had my tach handy, but I was flying solo, so I only tached it on the ground, using a flat 50 pitch curve. I programmed my throttle curve to hit 75% at mid stick, 90% at 3/4 stick and 100% at the top.

I then spooled her up to mid stick (75% throttle) and tached it at 1960RPM. At 90% throttle, she's turning at 2110RPM and at 100% flat, she was at 2280RPM!

Looks like 13T pinion is the sweet spot for my flying style. Flew one pack at flat 90 and did some aggressive collective stuff and she was just nimble and fast! At flat 100, she's a beast... LOTS of headspeed and quite the unboggable machine I was aiming for.

I'm still limiting my flying and time to 4min and mild sport flying until I hit my 5th cycle on the packs. So far so good. Nothing comes down hot, just barely above ambient!

cheers rceccleston , taking of batts , mine came off from flight 2 , all showing 3.83 volts on all cells , BUT now i`m charging them up , i have 2 high cells in each pack , and both the same cells too ? i wonder if my 6cell balancer?charger is playing up as it has smoked in the past , am balancing on a seperate balancer to see if i can get a matching set of 6 on each pack now , as for the gov bit , i think i`ll leave as is and try 12/13/14 pinions to see how she goes and i`ll leave my mod1 gears off for now . caralmar , excellent reports :thumbup::thumbup:

Must be in the air, my imax b8 is doing the same so I went out and bought the blinky balancer and it fixed batts that I thought were bad so if you got 25~30 bucks go get one they are the best balancer I seen for 6 cells

lol just to add also I charged up my two 6 cell in parallel and made them perfect! I can't tell you how happy that tiny little thing has made my Helli's

my separate watt meter has nearly got one back to level after 2 hours , i`ll then put it on charge and see what happens , but will not connect it too the charger balance port , i`ll speak to my LHS on monday to see what they got

well I got a ? for you now lol, how dose the watt meter get your batt's good? I thought it was just a logger.

I don't think so, I think it is mod 0.8 I have one in my esp and I know it was diffrent than the stock gear! I switched to helical gear on my 600gf but the stock gear says 0.7 and the extra gear for the kde 700 gear is difrent but dose not say what mod it is like the rino gear dose

Both stock main gears on T-Rex 600 & 700 are mod 0.7

A 700 main gear increases meshing, due to the extra few millimetres in height, and increases the head speed due to the change in gear ratio.

my watt meter is also a balancer  batts all perfect , been for another flight , this time with a 14T pinion :Bang she don`t half sing i tell ya , but alas miy pinion came undone , never mind , i`ll try a 13T pinion next , I LOVE THIS CONVERSION or have i already said that :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I am using Scorpions recommended 4025-630kv for 12s, with 2x 6s Turnigy 3000Mah 30/40c (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9489&aff=97114) in series, on 12T for 2150-1975rpm for 5.5mins 3D.

hello all , what kinda stud lock or thread lock do you use to keep the pinion clued on tight please

After creating a 3-4mm flat spot on the motor shaft, with a file or dremel, I use normal threadlock and leave to harden over night.

I am about to order batteries and I would like to know if I should order 30c or 35c 3000mah? Or is the cost of the 35c not worth it?
30c 507g $49
35c 524g $59

Thanks!!

I got the 35C packs and have now put 4 full cycles through them while breaking them in. I'm quite surprised about these packs. My heli feels like it could lift a small kid w/ it! Very powerful setup. These packs make the heli come alive.

After 5min flights with these at 90% flat throttle, I'm putting 1610mAh back into each pack! This means I could easily fly 6 - 7 min at this head speed, which turns out to be right around 2100RPM!

If I want to really throw her around, I could do 100% throttle, which would turn the head at a whopping 2280RPM for a good 5min! More than enough for any 3D I am capable of at this time.

Highly recommend the 35C packs... only $10 more. BTW, these packs come down just above ambient temperature! Fantastic 12s conversion.

Personally, I was concerned about the additional weight making it nose heavy, because the 'c of g' is currently spot on with the Turnigy 3000Mah 30/40c (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9489&aff=97114) packs.
