2300 is pretty excessive on a 600 imo. with these electrical setups we can get it up to like 2400 but its inefficient and you are just beating air not using the energy put out.
the 700 can be pushed just as hard and fast with the right power setup but i would definitely attribute alot of it to your head speed difference. and don't forget that it is smaller and lighter.

Was not aware the software is off that much.
So after my failure with a 15T on Set RPM mode, I went back to 13T.
Same settings as per the start of this thread except for motor timing. I switched to LOW as per Castle Creations tech support to prevent the motor from heating up. Governor gain at MID, HS at 2075 for 50%-99% setting, SET RPM. Also used VOLTZ 6S 33000 35C batteries. The governor works as it should. No tail kicks, no gear chatter on punch outs. Motor temp warm. I didn't have a tach with me but the HS is holding as per my eardrums. I am pleased with the result.
In addition, I experimented with my throttle curves for SET RPM. I programmed a very low flat 60% TX throttle for idle1 and a high flat 95% for idle2. Since these values are below 99%, I expected to see no difference in HS switching from idle1 and idle2 on SET RPM mode. On the castle link software, I entered 2075 for HS.
In the garage I hovered the heli and switched between idle1 and idle2. No audible HS change. Pretty impressive. I'll do one more test tomorrow, measuring my HS accurately with a tachometer. If I get +-30 RPM compared to the value I put in the software, I'll be satisfied.
I hope this info helps someone else.

Tachometer reading says 2080! WOW, only 5 RPM off from software value of 2075!
Old batteries can't deliver RPM towards the last minute of a 6 minute flight, but the brand new Voltz batteries worked great up to the last second.

My Scorpion 4025-630 is coming down at the end of 5 minutes at 125F or 52C.
I am using same 12s setup as posted in the first post of this thread, with same Esc settings.
Using a 12T pinion and putting back 1900mah into each 3000mah pack.
Is this temp OK?

should be ok,my motor runs about the same temp

Damm I just blew another torque tube gear in my 12s 600. Thats the second in 3 months. They simply wear our, and eventually strip. Its usually the one in the boom case that goes. Is anyone else getting this problem?

I guess not?

Yes, I have had a couple strip... Try slowing your spool up rate down a digit or two, seems to have helped mine?

Could be the combination of the following causing high wear on the torque tube gears.
High spool-up rate,
Governor gain too aggressive,
High gyro gain,
Gyro tail stop's to aggressive,
Bearings,
Personally, I use bearing retainer to bond the shaft to the bearing and allow to set over night. This prevents the meshing of the gears changing during flight.

I just got a like new 600e cf that I would like to try this on. Is anyone using this on the 12s and is there anything else I need to change? It is all stock now. I will be ordering 2 3000mah 6s 40c Turnigy batterys and the KDE V2 tail blade mod.

Mine is a 600CF,
I added the KDE 700 main gear mod
A few cross braces to give the frame a bit of stiffness
KDE bottom plate
and some mild other bling stuff:YeaBaby:

PS I had a set of 3000 Flightmaxs make it to 180 cycles. One puffed a week ago, and I think it happened because the cell was "rubbed through" the way I had it sandwiched between the frames. But at 2000 RPM with the VBar they were giving me 6 minutes of SNJ style 3D... The video at the beginning of this thread is one of my early flights, I was still running 2200 HS and CYB Stubz paddles.

Is the TT needed or will the belt hold up for now?

Belt will work fine.

I finally got the 4025-550 motor! It comes with 6mm motor shaft installed. However, there is no groove or flat spot on the shaft for the pinion set screw.
Should I just make one myself? Dremel a groove or file a flat spot?

Sweet the 550 looks like the serious ticket for a 12S 600:thumbup: What ESC are you running?

Castle Creations Phoenix HV110. I know I could do with the HV 85, but I've been using this ESC on 6S until now.

I only asked because I would have liked to seen some data logs on the motors performance... I was hoping you had a ICE HV 80 or the 120. Do you have an Eagle tree?

Got a few questions as usual. I'm using a CC80HV/ Scorp 4025/550 and wondering what settings and software version your using for the Esc. its actually in a stretched 550 frame using 600-630 blades. At the mo I'm fly-barred.
Currently I'm using Gov mode and 1950 and trying 2150 on 600's or 2050 on the 630 SWE's Pinion is 17T.
Looking at the Esc Gov recomendations I'm still undergeared at 2100 with a 17T
Very pleased with the performance overall but is there any worthwhile tweeks concernimg motor settings and programming.
Flying style, I can push the model very hard if I wish although I tend to mix up my flight style. I can suck a 3000 down in under 5 mins.
Am I correct in saying duration is suffering on 17T and gov mode would struggle to hold the higher H/S should I drop a tooth
Any giudance appreciated in increasing flightime witout appreacable H/S reductions.
thanks Brian

I have build one too. Its kind af a bastard because its assembled from a lot of old part from a wrecked T-Rex 600N Pro and a lot af new parts. To make things fit together i had to modify the ESP frames a bit.
I have made a photo series. The language is Danish but the photos are multilangual.

I use the batteries from my 500ESP (Turnigy 3000mAh 6S 30/40C) but For now I only have 5 so I can only fly 2 times. I will soon order 5 or 7 more:thumbup:
The motor is not a Scorpion but a Hyperion 4025-630 which in fact is identical to the Scorpion ditto and the ESC i a CC ice 80HV.
I test Flew it yesterday in rather stormy conditions (could not wait) and I can say that power is adequate:YeaBaby: Despite the weather conditions It was impossible to bog doing tic-tocs no matter how badly I did them. Very impresive.
I dont think I ever will buy a nitro helicopter again.
