Hi guys!
I am finally finishing my build (same as rceccleston's).
Since this is my first Trex, i'm not sure, but to me it has strange sound to me.
What you think?

Hey guys,

I've been reading through this thread for the padt few days, (only on page 70), and have been picking up some very helpfull and usefull information. I just got a 600 cf and so far it has 6 flights with a 6s setup. I would have been happy to fly as a 6s with a 1100kv motor and a 15t pinion, but i started reading this thread and now considering the 12s upgrade. I also have a trex 500 and some 3000mah and 2650mah packs for it. I also have a 5000mah for the 600. Now i'm looking at what direction my lipo investment should go towards, and really like the higher cycle rate that the 12s setup would offer.

The question i have now is about lipo longevity, and you guys seem to know the best care to get the most cycle from a lipo. Is it ok to fully charge a pack then have it sit a week or two before flying it? Does this degrade a lipos cell at all? Or is this better for the packs cycle life? Or what?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Also, this thread says a 'low budget set up', but why not go with lower budget components? Castel Creation esc and Scorpion motors are not very 'low budget' items, at least not to a broke self-employed musician like myself. Has anyone tried stuff like the turnigy k-force 70a hv, and the mega 8 bec, and that 800kv motor they have that is rated for 11c. These are low budget items, and yes you may have to sacrifice some quality, and may have to experiment with different pinion and main gear combinations, but you'll have more money to spend on packs and chargers....

I think it sounds like your gear mesh is too tight

Kdean, a few prudent points you must remember:

1. Kforce 70a is perfect for your needs but do not use less than 15deg timing.
2. 800kv is way too high for an optimal 12s setup, even though they claim 11s max- its a typo btw, is actually 8s motor.
3. The bec is fine
4. Your ideal 12s motor for the 600e using mod0.7 gear is 500kv or so. If you're running a mod1 gear you can try a 600kv motor with smaller pinion. Trust me that you dont want a 800kv motor in a 12s setup, its more trouble tahn its worth even if you use throttle curves or govs etc to compensate.

I can not get the KDE 115 Tooth main gear on I can get the hub down through the main gear but I can NOT get the anti rotation gear down over the one way bearing:arggg::arggg:
What am I doing wrong? This is the only thing stopping me from getting this bird in the air and I want to fly it BAD!!!!!! Someone PLEASE HELP ME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!11

Is it the tail gear you mean? It sits under the maingear just with the shaft through it. Did you turn the hub upside down? I think the screws are mounted downwards and up ( screwed towards head)

Thank you!
I will leave some space between pinion and main gear then.

Anyway, i tested on the field and looks promising:lol:

Hi I have a TRex 600CF setup:

My T-Rex 600 FBL. With Castle 1717 Motor 1500 KV 4 Pole, 14 Tooth Pinion, KDE Mod.7 Main Gear 164 Tooth, WR Super BEC set at 6 volt, Castle Link Quick Connect, V Bar 5 Pro, Futaba R6008HS receiver, Futaba 10 CHG 2.4 G Transmitter, 6s 22.2 Volt 6000 mAh Nano-Tech Battery 25-50c, 3 - Align DS610 Cyclic Servos @ 6V, Futaba BLS254 Tail Servo, WR LED Tail Step Down 5.2 Volt.

My question is that I have to run 2250 RPM or the heli seems to lag a little on colective. I wanted to run a lower head speed. If I converted it to 12s could I run a lower head speed and not have this lag in collective ? I have a 4035-560 Scorpion Motor, Kontronik 80HV or 120 HV. I also have 2 sets of custon heli parts 2mm carbon frames, it says they are cut for the larger motors. I have the Align FBL head but I am thinking of switching to the Compass FBL head or Trax.

Well I'm just about done with her and it's about time! I have 13+ At full stick and center stick I have 0 and lowest stick I have -13 degrees pitch!!! WOW!!!! I could get 18 degree's of pitch out of this head if I wanted to. Can't wait to get ti in the Air. I have the ESC and the BEC, Servos mounted now the motor. and the RX Then she will be ready for her maiden flight I so CAN'T WAIT!!! My first 600 and first 12s system!!!

I know this is not precisely the right forum for this, but if you are interested in this thread, you may be interested in the following components to convert you 600ESP to a 12S machine.

I have the electronics and parts to upgrade the 600 ESP to a 12s machine:

600MX 510KV (12S) with a CC Ice2 160HV controller (Both with less than 20 flights on them)

13 tooth slant pinion, 115T slant main gear and case with original ESP tail gear (no need to change the auto rotation gear).

Align DFC head, original 600 ESP swash and mainshaft (cut to size from 600N, just drop it in and adjust the servo to swash linkage rods.)

Add FBL controller, BEC, and you can convert your ESP to a 12S DFC flybarless bird.

I can even throwin a used 3GX in as well, so all you need is power to the electronics BEC, or battery with regulator.

It works well. I converted mine with the above but am moving on to a Goblin with new electronics.

$300 for the combo sound OK?

I have this heli built to the specs on the first post of this thread. It is now flybarless but otherwise unchanged. Can I stretch this heli while keeping the powerplant. I am looking for a gentle giant not a crack fiend...
