You could use this.. http://www.helidirect.com/outrage-xp25-8s1p-296v-3700mah-25c-xtreme-power-series-trex-600-p-6933.hdx

but $232!

I'd rather go with 2 hobbycity lipos and connect them eh..?

I don't know what sizes but something like this Turnigy 1800mah is only $24

greg looks like it might fit but the 20c would fit a little better without opening up the battery tray. with the 25C im comming out with 72mm wide.

I see what you mean. It all depends on how accurate the battery dimension specs are.
I am running two Thunder Power 3850's that are speced at 36mm and they just fit.
After looking at the Value Hobby batteries again I see they are a little heavier also. The 20C battery would probably be enough running 8 cell.

I am also looking at these batteries.
Neu Energy $84.00

Esprit Models EM25c $90.00

Hyperion G3 4000 $102.95

I also talked to a new company (GravityHobby.com) when I was at I Hobby in Chicago.
They have a nice line of batteries that are almost as cheap as Value Hobby.
But I see their website is down for construction right now. I would check them out when the site is back up.

I think this is about as good as you can do without going to Hobby City.

BTW , how do you guys charge your 2 x 4S ( 8S ) packs ? As two seperate 4S packs ?

I have connected the one pos and one neg lead "permanently" with a 6mm bullet , and the connect the other pos and neg lead to the charge leads of the Cellpro 10S charger
Then charge it as a single 8S . The cellpro allows 2 balance boards to be used simultaneously
I also connect the 2 lipos as one 8S to the ESC - pos lead from one and neg lead from the other , with 6mm bullets - This way I do away with a Y serial connector - less connectors and wire length to add resistance . The lipos are held together as one with course Velcro

I have the two batteries taped together as one. I use Deans connectors and I have made two different harnesses for them, one serial harness and one parallel harness. I install the serial harness for flying and I install the parallel harness for charging. I then charge them as a 4 cell 8000 mAh pack assuming each pack is 4000 mAh. If I want to balance them I have two balancers one hooked to each battery.

I too have my 4S packs soldiered together as a single 8S. As for charging, I use a DB8 balancer which can balance up to 8S packs and just charge as a single 8S pack. The cool thing about the DB8 is that you can use a variety of different balance plugs to connect your packs to the balance board and you can even use different capacity as well as different cell counts and plug them into the same board :banana
