Well, some of us have had the opportunity to build and fly the Lepton over the past couple months - I have to say, I love this little bird - flys well and 3D performance is very good - I am flying the Hyperion/4S 3700 Litestorm setup. Same setup as Bob.
What I would really enjoy hearing from all of you that have been posting on the Lepton thread - is what you think of the heli. and any new suggestions/comments.
Thanks again to Bob and all of you for sharing what you learned while getting used to this new bird. It was vey helpful,
Jeff

This has really become my favorite heli. Small enough to take to work and fly at lunch and still big enough to fly like the big boys!

my same impressions - and since I have been flying it - its been pretty bullet proof - knock on wood,
Jeff

I would like to ask did you try andy tic toc such tail up ro tail down tic toc?

I am going to try this 3D but my Trex cannot hold it firmly, I am going to try tic toc with Lepton. But up to now, I have not seen any video about Lepton doing tic toc. Definitely, Logo will do this greatly.

Thanks
Martin

Well my 2 cents.... I LOVE THE LEPTON!!!!
I fly it more than any Eheli I have so far.
Is it perfect? No not stock anyway.
I think once we all get done tweaking with it, it will be the will (if not already) be the BEST E-heli in it's class.

martinhung, I will be trying some 3700ma FlightPower Evo packs this weekend and I will do some tic-tocs and let you know... Heck I may video it if I get a chance as I do tic-tocs pretty well on my other helis including my little Trex and I see no reason this heli cant do them well both tail down and tail up...

But... I still would like to work on faster elevator cyclic (which is why I see your question about tic tocs) using different paddles, blades, and as in my other controversial thread, head designs....

Bob, do you the think the Flight Power EVo packs will give you some more punch??? As soon as you find out to enhance the elevator cyclic, I am definitely interested in hearing about it - I am still exploring the Lepton's flight envelope,
Jeff

Hi Bob,

Thanks so much. I am looking forward to seeing your video.

Hi Bob,

I forgot to ask you the set-up of your Trex, what is your main blade, ESC, motor, servo and battery?

My set-up is: pheonix 35A ESC, Align 3550KV motor, 65MG servo x 3, 2200 mah 16c-20c battery, Align stock 315 carbon blade, original paddles, 401 + 9650.
When I try tic tocs, the heli lost too much attitude and cannot hold it firmly. I even cannot do 2 successive tic tocs.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Martin, this is not the Trex forum so I wil tell you here real quick but for more discussion lets move it to the Trex forum or PM me.

Align 35 ESC and 430L with 13T pinion
TP 2100 packs
325 Pro Wood blades
HS-65MG servos
401 with AT 94761
Throttle curve in idel up 100% flat!
Head speed 3100
Programmable paddles (this greatly helped cyclic response for tic tocs)

Jeff Greene TORE up the Lepton last week, in STOCK form. It Tic Toced, funneled, chaosed, backwards flight...what ever he threw at it it handled. To say this heli needs anything is silly. It flies great out of the box, well add some shuttle blades cut down. I really think that any negative comments are PURELY OPINION now after seeing a few of these bad boys fly. This heli RIPS!!! What is needed?

Wow, that's a familiar refrain. Where did I hear that before. Oh, I know----I think I said something very similar a few weeks back.

How very true, the Lepton doesn't need a lot out of the box, good show!

I saw Jeff G at MHA, and it was great on 3S...but he really wrung it out at Rochester on 4S.:glasses2: Curtis was there and everyone pushed it to the max, great flying too. The Lepton rocked.

Plus his Chinook was cruising!!

I have found no issues with mine now that it is squared away. Im no 3D pro but I think its pretty darn quick. Maybe after the 3D class on wednesday with Todd and Jason will help me. :glasses2: :glasses2:

Jeff

Coolest sounding heli too.

fwiw..

Got a bit of time on the Lepton now as well..Landing gear is an issue, mostlybecause of tail rotor clearance issues....I use cut down 68mm Eolo blades, have them at 63 mm now, best so far..No buzz as with full length, but holds great as long as I do my part on collective..I had a Hirobo factory pilot wring it out at the LA Classic, he said it felt like his 90...
The 12 turn Hyperion is producing plenty of power for 3D,, and is kinder to the batts than the 10 T..
The hot batttery looks like the new 4s 4350 mah Hyperion pack...Balances the heli perfectly, but is not as heavy as the 5000..

The CC 80 continues to amaze me as to how well the governor function works..No issues at all, constant speed even with rapid and extreme cyclic and collective changes..74 % on throttle give 2850 w/24 tooth pinion..Amp draw measures 49.1 Amps.
My biggest wish would be for better auto performance...The heli is capable of aerobatic autos, and I've managed rolling and flipping autos with it, but the margins aren't there for other than the VERY skilled pilots...I know some will disagree with me but Walt Ferar is the only person I've heard of who can consistently hit the spot with the heli..I realize I'm askng too much for the disk loading of this heli, but we can dream...
I worked with a Lepton this weekend at the LA classic swinging 440 mm blades..Seems like too much blade for the avila ble power, as the batt and motor temps went way up..Maybe 435s will work...

This is by far the best flying heli in this size and smaller. I love the quality and after a few mods this thing is a beast. The power is ballistic and it is very nimble. When I push it it pushes back and can take more. I love this heli.
I just installed the 9254 on the tail and now the tail is rock solid. It is night and day better than the 9650.

When they say, the power of a 90, I had no idea since I did not own a 90. But today I flew my Freya(new to me) with the motor leaned out some(a little over a gallon through the new motor OS91SZHP)...now I know what you mean when you say power like a 90!!!! :glasses2: I love my Hirobo machines!!!! SO SMOOTH!!!

John, Too bad I couldnt make it out to the classic as planned. Family stuff came up.

Man I would like to see your Lepton! I have still been running stock for now as I have not had time to mess around yet. Since I am really the only one at my flying site with one of these, I need a perspective of another one! Jack never flys his or brings it out either. So any chance you can make it out to our site one weekend for a Lepton fly day :)

Yo, Bob...

I'll try to make it down in the weekends after Buzzin the Border...I'm working on a trex 600 right now, looking forward to the comparison...Sorry Jack is keeping his toys away from you!!

John.
