Right now I have a T-rex SE that is tricked out. I have a guy that wants to sell me a used raptor. It is the old version and comes with an OS SHX Hyper motor, carbon blades, a futaba 240 Gyro, and some spare parts. What would be a good deal on that? I don't want to get ripped off. If it is not a good deal I would rather put more money into my T-rex.

Depends on which "old version" you're talking about.

There's a v1 which I'd avoid.
There's also the v2, se and Titan all of which would probably be a decent deal.

The motor is the best of the lot for 50s, the gyro is ok, a 401 is better.

I think it is a version 1 so I think I will avoid it. Thanks for the info.

Well unless it is SUPER cheap then you can just upgrade it.

See upgrades below:

What is a good deal where it would be worth my time?

If it doesn’t have a molded in stand off for the header tank then it’s a V1.
But I must warn you that nitro birds are very addictive, I don’t mean to sound like a girl…..but bigger is better !

I know. I sold three gas powered RC cars to get my T-rex because I liked having the ease of the electrics. I have had it one month and now look what happened.

I got a great Deal on a Raptor V1, flew several gallons on it so far with no issues...

The only mod i did to mine was switch the head to leading edge control. Haven't had any issues since, and been flying it quite a bit.

It's not like you can't upgrade later, especially if you put it in hard and need to buy the parts anyway.....

I still fly a V1. I did upgrade the frame, but the head and tail are V1. No problems so far.

I still fly the heck out of my V1 on a hyper 50 and stinger head, before that on a excellent running OS 46 with V1 head, 550 mains. Nothing wrong with V1, parts still available. Right now, all i need to do is change out the frame and starter/clutch area for V2 and I would be up to date. every time ive broken the frame, i still end up getting the v1 frame... just the way its works out at the time...
