If I were you I would go for this: http://flying-hobby.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=3_330_331&products_id=5469 Great price, isn't it?
Then just add H550 paddles, tail and main blades (CF of course), change tail boom and push rod, install all nicessary electronics (Z20 or Z30 motor, servos, jyro, etc) and have fun. This will be the best option IMO.

Or ow about buying a 425 frame and head and then setting it up for 3D? all you have to do is change the boom, belt, blades to make it a 550 and then you can customize it.
I am building my 550 now and love it, looks great

If you want to do hard 3D you are better off with the CF framed version - or you could go for the Head Hunter frame which is gettign rave reviews Official Build Thread: HeadHunter Frame - HeliFreak here Head Hunter Frame arrived today! - HeliFreak and here Kyle Stacy Test Flies Head Hunter Frames!! - HeliFreak or you could buy the plastic framed version to start with (it will be fine for loops, flips, etc.) and then upgrade when you need to

If you plan on making it a 3D pro type of bird, find a kit with the metal head. It's almost $300 alone just to upgrade to a metal head, so why not just get it in the first place, plus I believe those kits have the CF frame. Then you can upgrade to the Head Hunter frame when you're ready. When you buy a Hurricane kit, depending on your flying style, it's the rotor head you want to focus on because that's what makes the big difference. Plastic can handle sport flying, but might not handle the very high headspeeds and stresses you need for extreme 3D, plus metal parts will usually survive crashes better than plastic.
