I posted this in the Reflex forum but no one seems to want to answer over there. There seems to be some people with good knowledge of the 9303 here.

I am new to helis and setting up the radio. I understand a little of the lingo. If I can get a basic set up I may be able to tweak it from there.

I have been doing the XTR SIM for about 4 months and I have been just using the radio and SIM the way it came. I want to change things and see how things react, but I am unsure how to set it up for basic flying, like the curves and such. No one locally has a 9303. I used a setup for the channels I found here, I am unsure how to set certain things.
Does someone have a basic set up for hovering and forward flight?

Here is what I have set up on the XTR channel assignment.
Tail- 4
Elev- 3
Airl- 2
Thro- 1
Pitch- 6 Is this same as the Throttle as it moves the same in the Channel display

I am hovering really well and the heli flys great no tail wag or anything. I am using the Century Predator Gasser as I have a Bergen Intrepid Gas. I just want to make sure I am doing things right and not spending all this time practicing and it not be right. LOL I want to practice autos but everything I have read so far does not work.

Here is my main questions and where I get lost

Autorotation- Which channel and how do you activate it.
Gyro Sens- Same question, I leave it on Auto on the radio is this right?

When you assign the channels on XTR and it tells you to activate the auto rotation channel. Which channel or switch is it?
Then activate the gyro sens. How?

I have looked and searched and tried to get the radio and XTR set up to practice autorotations. I just cannot find or get it to work right.
Can someone please help me get it set up right to practice this.

Oh what the heck is HH?

I appreciate the help.

Thanks

Mike -

In the 9303 use RUDD D/R as the Gyro sensitivity on AUX2 or channel 7 of XTR Reflex and use 75 position 0 and 25 position 1 - this will lock the tail into HH with the rudder D/R swx isntead of the gear switch selection and playing with the travel adjusts.

For autorotation use channel 8 on XTR and this is AUX3 on the 9303 where the AUX 2 switch can be assign to activeate throttle hold for autorotations.

Hope this helps.

I got the autos going right. Thanks so much!

One more question, if you do not mind.

Do you use the HH (Rudd d/r switch on) in only in forward flight or all the time like in lift off?
For instance...

When I try to take off at your recommended settings -without- the Rudd D/R switch on, it jumps and spins all over the place. If I leave it on it runs great.
HH= Heading Hold, correct?

If I leave the radio gyro sens. setting at auto the heli/tail stays/flies fine.

Thanks again for the help, I see I need some major practice with them.

Most 3d folks leave it in HH all the time. No reason to turn it off an let the tail weathervane if you need the practice flying the tail anyway - which all of us usually do.

Hope this helps you ...

I started back when Futaba had a ball bearing rate gyro I believe a 153 and all we had was standard. Heading Hold is awesome and allows new people to ramp up faster than they ordinarily would.

Great!
It is handling awesome at your recommended setting it kind of threw me at first. LOL

Almost like it was wired to my thoughts instead of my radio controls!

Thanks so much for the information, it helped me A LOT!

Greatly appreciated!

what is this autorotation button (channel 8) for, once you have TX throttle/pitch mixing and throttle hold is being used as in real life, then there also shall be no difference in use between XTR and real heli, or is this function doing something special ?
