Hey Guyes,

What will it take to rebuild our Industrial Twin to a Electric Twin.
SO what kind of engine, speedcontroller, batteries etc.

Twin must have the same lifting power afther being rebuild to a electric heli.

Do you people have suggestions.

1 HP is about 0.75 kW so if you want the same power you need 6kW. That could be a challenge :D

I didn't know the conversion for the Kw. But I know this would be a tough one to convert electric. gona be very $$$$$$$!!

What's your main reason for wanting to convert to electric?

You might want to consider selling that Twin and talk to Bergen about the possibility of getting a TURBINE powered version of the industrial in the future. Or even just the turbine powered Intrepid. Not sure of the horse power on the turbines, but I know they've got some horses in em.

Brady,

Its easier to work with electropower, no vibrations, clean, silent, startup at all weather conditions
Easy to operate.
Turbine is no option, to complicated, expencive, complicated maintenance.

That are the main reasons.

..... to complicated, expencive, complicated maintenance.
You haven't worked with big electric setups much have you. :D :D :D

I don't think with todays current state of motors and especially speed controllers you are going to find an "off the shelf" solution to your question.

If you MUST carry that much weight a turbine or your current gasser is the only viable option I can see.

Now if you can reduce your payload to less than say 12lbs you can easily lift that with a Maxi Joker 2 or convert your current setup to a similar motor/ESC combo.
Again not going to be easy or cheap.
You are desiging your own helicopter at this point. :D

Rene,

It might be worth your while to talk to Chris Bergen or Gary Travis about the Turbine.

Turbines have less vibes, are cleaner, quieter, and startup easier than gas, and have tons of power. I don't think maintenance is as much an issue as you might be afraid. It might be more of an option for you than you realize except that YES they are costly. At least for my budget they are. :(

Rene, try www.modelbouwforum.nl too.

All it takes is to find a suitable motor, then battery and your conversion is ready.
