Hi, is there any ? For the Hacker seems to exist, and according to some people, it's running ways cooler, any experience or thoughts ? Don't even know if hyperion would have long enough shaft for this ... thanks,
Stuka

I will be making some very soon. Here is a link to Finless testing the fan for me:

Hey Stuka, I am very interested in one, let me know if you have any more prototypes available, or put me in line for one!

Thanks guys. I should have a few available by next weekend. I'll keep you posted.

is it similar size than the one for the hacker (http://www.9129.co.jp/ and then click "motor" and scroll down) ? That one is 11 (inside diameter) x 37.2 (outside diameter) x 7 (thickness) for the A30, and I guess shaft is 5mm same. It says, that it can be used also for the Hyperion Z30 series ...

The mounting holes are diffrent on the motors. The hyperion uses 3 holes where the hacker uses 4 holes to mount the fan.

Oh I see, well does that mean that there is anything on hyperion, which foresees a fan or what is the essential on the motor (other than shaft thickness and of course shaft length) to mount a fan ? Sorry I never saw one in real life, only pictures .... attached the one from Quick, which they say ok for Hyperion 30 as well ... but I can see only 2 holes
Thanks !

Xircom, can you post the web site of the quick fan?

Sure, it's mentioned in one of the above (http://www.9129.co.jp/), use http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/ for translation, if needed. I don't assume you can read it

here is one I made yesterday:
http://www.archeli.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10059/normal_fan2.jpg (http://www.archeli.com.au/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-2572)
http://www.archeli.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10059/normal_fan1.jpg (http://www.archeli.com.au/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-2573)
seems to work very well, did 3 packs back to back and motor was much cooler than it normally is after just 1.

Here's a peek at a new design I'm testing right now.

There's no question this motor needs a fan.
I'm doing my own and will make some prototypes tonight.

Stuka, aren't the fins on your one on the right backwards?
Stuka
10-22-2006, 10:38 PM
The fins are angled slightly forward. A slight forward sweep theoretically should move more air than straight blades and straight blades should move more air than aft swept blades. Here's a pic of the cooling fan for the Freya which has the same rotation direction.

ok, so its still trying to push the air out? just as long as you dont go too far fowards and they start tring to drag it back in I guess.
Stuka

Yes, you don't want to go too far forward. For high volume/low pressure applications forward curved blades will move the most air but will be the least efficient. The lepton has plenty of power to spare so I'm not too worried about cooling fan efficiency as it's a small percentage of total power anyway.

Stuka... need another test vid ;)

The new fan is now available and will supersede the old design. The new design is a little more effective at cooling than the old design. See Finless' old/new comparison test vid HERE. (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/other&filename=stukafannew.wmv) Thanks again Bob :) The price will remain $14 shipped in the USA (add $1 for international shipping) and includes qty. 3 M2.6 cap screws. Here are a drawing and a photo of the new fan:

So how do we go about ordering one?
Finless

I am pretty sure if you PM him you can work out how to order one. So you know this fan is a BIG help on reducing the temps on a Hyperion 3025 motor! After doing the vid for him I have flown several times HARD and man the motor will love you for having a fan :)
