Well darn it I crashed Sunday :(

My fault as I dumb thumbed it in.... Went the wrong way with pitch while doing multiple rolls from inverted flight.

Anyway it went in HARD and I though for sure I wasted it good. Everyone RAN over to see the damage and said the crash looked SPECTACULAR. When I got back to the bench and started to evaluate I couldnt believe it. Either I was lucky or this is one tuff heli!

Main shaft is good and the sucker went in inverted and bounced TWICE! Spindle is also still OK.

Actualy damage:
Main gear
Boom
Blades
Flybar
2 bent screws on the seesaw mixer arms and possible bearing replacement on those.
Dinged up wind shield on the canopy

I also sheared off one of the screws holding the CF vertical fin on the tail case. I had to drill out the screw but others may have to buy a tail case should this happen to them.

Also watch out for the hyperion motor can slipping on the shaft. Inspection showed this had dropped I guess due to the crash. I think I am going to put flat spots on the shaft.

So all in all a cheap crash :)

Glad to hear it is one tough bird. I'm not looking forward to wrecking mine but when it does it is good to know that it can take a beating.

Well I just got parts... I knew the main shaft was $24 but was SHOCKED when I found the main gear was $29. Thats truely is crazy!!!!

I certainly dont remember my Evo 50 main gears costing that much.

Bottom line the crash cost me $120 bucks which isnt all that bad but just for a boom, Main gear, and blades?

I agree on the main gear being outrageously priced. :bs Hopefully Kovi will start selling his CNC Derlin main gears soon at a better price. Bob what main blades did you end up buying?

I got the stock blades but plan on ordering the Carbons as well.

If you can find the MS Composit 420s they are way better than the stock blades.... Still waiting for the MAH or hopefully SAB, V-Blades, or Radix will step up to the plate soon and get some good blades for it.

Bob,

Did you crash at the LA Classic?

No I could not make the LA classic due to family issues I had to take care of Saturday. I flew locally Sunday afternoon and pounded it then.

I am going to make the San Diago fun fly this month though (that's my plan anyway).
