Probably sometime in September now before they can ship. The jamboree backed things up a bit and some of the parts still haven't made it in yet.

The kit layout is all set and setting up the kits has started so its only a matter of time.

Well I guess I will just have to wait until I get to see one, but for now that is more than I am willing to spend to have a gas helicopter.
I am not knocking the machine at all, but for my needs that is just too much money. The Predator Gasser will work fine for me or better yet the converted ION-X.
I understand the frames and servo arrangement are different, but until I see one in person you are going to have to put a BIG sales pitch on me to convince me it is different above and behind the frames from the Extreme to warrant NOT having a conversion out.

You can use everything above and behind the chassis, from virtually any XCell helicopter including the constant drive assembly. How it will perform depends on which of these parts you've used.

I'd suggest that these conversion parts be from an extreme or tempest, because they were packaged with all the radical 3D maneuvers in mind and have the right configuration for this size engine.

Depending on what model you want to convert from, the entire chassis and clutch assembly is different except for the small frame spacers. You could convert a clutch driver from an extreme or tempest.

I am very sure that if you want parts for a conversion, it can be packaged for you. Whether or not there is ever an official conversion kit, will depend on demand.

I can also say that all available parts will be used to make kits (because there is already a pretty good backlog of orders), so it will likely be sometime before a conversion could be put together.

Thanks Carey.
That is what a really wanted to hear.
I understand that in order to do a "conversion" for the Spectra you will have to start with a good foundation like the Fury Extreme or Tempest.
I 100% understand that a conversion kit is not going to be available (due to the parts issue) for sometime, but it should be available at some point in the near future.
Even if a customer can save 200.00 or so by doing a conversion it is worth it to some. The used market for Extremes right now is pretty wimpy so selling to fund a new kit ends up a loosing issue IMO.

Big Dee,
MA is working on getting the Spectra out. If the hurricanes will quit passing thru central Florida they may be able to get it out the door sooner. Charley and Francis crossed central Florida within 10 days of each other. With that happening, it threw a little kink in the schedule.

No, I'm sorry. I know that there are still about 3 parts that are not ready to ship. There is also some still finalization going on with the instructions and drawings.

Looks like there might be more delay coming. The WX Channel is now saying this next Hurricane may hit E FLA!! :DOH

You guys take care of yourselves down there. Get the Spectra out when you can safely. It is worth the wait and all the would be Spectra "G Men" will, including me. :D Keep up the great work!! I'm sure it sucks to have to prepare your shop for a Hurricane, then get it back working then prepare it again over and over. The delay is completely understandable.

Anything New on a release date for this Model?

Thanks,
Mike

MA just got back in the shop yesterday after not having power or phones for a week. Maybe the hurricanes have subsided and they can get back to a normal routine. 3 major hurricanes in 5 weeks throws a kink into schedules when the shop is directly in the path of them.

Thanks David, I figured they got pounded on. I hope both MA, and the people that work there made it thru with minimal damage.

Now, provided they don't have any more hurricanes this season, any idea on when this machine will be released?

Talked to them Monday. they are trying to everything back up and running. They have to await on reshipments of parts that were not delivered because of the hurricanes. It looks like about 4 weeks at least now. They are trying their best to get everything back on track. We will just have to stick it out, it will be worth it. Dave

As Dave said, shipping has been delayed by a few weeks. I saw the latest revision of the drawings today and they look great. The drawing format is more detailed than it has been in the past.

Since the model will be sold without an engine or exhaust, those of you who plan to get one might want to think about getting those parts in advance. If 100 kits go out all at once, I'm afraid that they might be harder to find.

Thanks for the reply's Carey and Dave.

I have no problem waiting. I just wanted a better idea so I could plan for the additional equipment needed much as Carey talked about.

Dave, did you fly an orange heim 222 many many years ago? I think it was orange.

Are you suggesting we buy the Engine, Muffler, and filter first? If so, I will call Tim asap :)

I'm suggesting that since the kits go out in lots of about 50, there will be a focused demand for the motors (which include the std air filter and muffler), and for the optional muffler and air filter. I have no idea what sort of supply of these things the dealer network will keep in stock so you may want to line up what you want in advance.

Carey,

Could you tell me again which specific motor you guy's are recommending.
Was the machine demo'd at ircha running a stock motor, or was it tweeked.

Thanks,
Mike
