Got mine in the mail this afternoon. Hope to get it in the heli Monday or Tuesday and see what it is like. It is impressive looking on the outside. Different case, head and backplate at least that is visible. A lot of ribs on the front part of the case.

Interesting in that it appears that the mounting lugs are thicker than the 32. Haven't taken the 32 out yet so haven't had a chance to measure the thickness.

Also want measure the opening size of the carb. Looks bigger but with the 32 still in the Raptor can't measure.

Also interesting with the low and high speed needles on the same side of the carb. Low speed needle is no longer "deep in a hole", but very easy to see and get to. Need ot also check the diameter of the arm side of the carb. Comes with a plastic linkage arm that looks like a servo arm held on with an allen head bolt. Don't know yet if it is the same diameter as the 32 so I can use the machined arm I have now or not. Looks like it probably is by eyeball.

Will let you know how it seems to perform sometime mid next week as won't get to fly till then.

I'm sure OS introduced this engine in response to the TT 39, but it's going to be hard to improve on the reliability and performance of the little 32. Let us know how it's going.

Put a couple of tanks through it Tuesday evening. Even with running it VERY, VERY rich (in normal mode) it had a much better vertical performance than the 32. Do not have the transition point dialed in yet. Wanted to fly some more last night and tonight but weather is not cooperating.

I think with some needle tweaks it will be more powerful than the TT39. The first TT that I had was great but I think this one will be much better after getting the tuneup right.

I did notice that it was very thirsty so far. Hope that ends with some lean out of the needles.

First I have heard of this engine? Where did you get it? My 32 in my Venture on floats is a PIG!!! NEED MORE POWER!!

Is the footprint (mounting lug hole spacing) the same?

Sounds like it is a drop-in replacement, eh?

I agree with capebob, in that the 32 SX-H will be a tough act to follow.

As far as I could tell when I looked at the new OS 37 back in April. It looked to me to have the same footprint as the OS 32. If fact the guy that owned the heli had replaced an OS 32 with the OS 37. I am pretty sure he just swapped the motor without any modifications. I was impressed with the OS 37, before I found out what the motor actually was, I thought the heli had a 50 size engine in it. Once I was told it was a 30 size, I had to look to make sure they was not joking. OS 37 impressed me with the power it was producing.

Fits my Raptor the same as the OS 32 or the TT39. Takes a little getting used to having both needles on the same side. Has marks on the carb for open, closed, midpoint and a mark just a small amount on each side of midpoint. Makes it easy to set the throttle arm for 1/2 mechanical position. Very "beefylooking" crankcase casting.

I got mine last week from Cyberheli. $149.99 + $15 shipping from Hong Kong to Indiana. Ordereed on Tuesday evening and had it in hand on Saturday morning. Engine even came with an OS 8 plug but no tools.

Hope to get some more fuel through it this weekend. Want to start the leaning process to get past the breakin. Still using the factory setting on the low needle and it seems to be about right. Manual says to start the breakin at 1 1/2 turns out on the high needle. Made a fuel puddle on the pavement at that setting but it still was makeing good power in a vertical climb. Turned it in about 2 clicks for the second tank and it was a lot happier then. I really think this will be a good one.

SteveK,

What pipe are you running? I have a Venture also with a OS32/ MP2, and I want more power. It is stable in the air, but it's a brick with a rotor head

Just using a Mavrikk muffler. Nothing fancy.

I'm with David. The new OS 37 will make you forget all about the .32. It wasn't that good from a power standpoint and fell way behind in recent years.

I was there with David and we both saw the same heli. On top of the fact that the 37 was in a Sceadu Evo 30, the machine was running 600MM blades on top of everything else.

I will have one as soon as I can get my hands on it.

I think I'll have to get one and do some testing with the MP2. I'll post the results later. Maybe that will give it even more power:wink:

That was my next question; will it turn 600s with no sweat? Obviously so. Yup, this has possibilities... :D

SteveK, OS stopped including tools in their engines years ago. I've still got several of the very nice open-end wrenches (10-12mm, 12-14mm) that used to come with the four strokes. Just another cost-cutting move...

So where do I get one?

So what size blades are better to run with all this extra power????

I dont think 600s will work well. It is a strong engine but still not a 50.

I have been running the TT 550s with 11-11 pitch.
This seems to work very well.

Thanks Ray...
I was thinking about this myself...Stronger motor but adding more weigh to sling longer blades might defeat the purpose.

Exactly. I think it is best with the 550s.
It also prefers the Muscle Pipe.

What type of Pipe is everyone else running...?
David and TMoore...what pipe was the Evo partaking of?

If I am not mistaken they just had the stock Hirobo muffler on the OS 37. I really didn't look that close at it.

I should have been more specific. I am running 30% CP. WIth the MP it would pull very well at 11 degrees. With the Gohbee tuned pipe it still flew well but did not pull as strong in the extreme pitch moves. I tried various needles settings and did run welll...just not as well.

Well...
I have about 5 tanks through mine now at just over two full turns open. I was shooting some autos and man that thing was up there before I knew it. Almost lost it a couple of times. Im only running 20% so it will be interesting to see how it is leaned out and possibly on 30%.

I put about 8 flights on my X-Cell 30 with the .37 this weekend and the motor is pulling hard... :D

Not quite to 50 standards performance of course, but close. I think it is a perfect mix of enough power that can bail you out, but also train you you to be smoother with your collective management.

Anyone else?

Replaced a picky 32 with the os37....night and day difference. Power is amazing compared to the 32 and the carb is much more tuning friendly. Still running 550 blades and have had to increase top end pitch to keep from overspeed. With the old 32 i had to back off on top end pitch and still deal with bogging.

I flew a caliber 30 a couple of times over the weekend that has an new os 37. I was extremely impressed with it. It had great power and was difficult to bog even with consecutive tumbles. I could also do climbing tic tocs. It's a very nice engine and it maintained a good temp. The caliber was using it's stock kyosho pipe, too. The owner has a mpII on the way that will surely improve the power even more.

Being my first time flying a caliber 30, I was also very impressed with the model itself. That engine brought it to life and let me dance all over the sky with it. I had a blast. I used to feel that only a 50 size bird would be good for beginner 3D training, but this engine has now changed my mind.

Broken in...
How many turns out are you guys on the needle?
Just curious to see where mine fairs. I'm still 2 full turns out and Im about a gallon into it.
