Newbie simulator question

I am just getting started on my simulator. Are the default settings ok for the mixing curves, gyros, etc??
I've done a search and seem to be getting different answers.
I am using Real Flight G2 and have installed the add ons.
I am using the training helicopter and it seems to keep going sideways when I throttle up. I can tell that I am getting a little better, but still all over the place while trying to hover. I want to make sure that I have it set up right. I am trying the tutorials, but the sound of the chopper keeps drowning out the instructor. Any advice?

First turn down the engine noise. Click options, then sound and you will be able to figure it out from there.

The training heli on G2 is setup OK as long as you are using the included control box. Helicopters are hard, practice, practice, practice and you will be rewarded.
