Ok, so I landed the Hawk a little to hard and the blades hit the boom and tore the whole thing apart. So I figured I would try a R30 this time around.

Here is what is salvageable:

4 Futaba S3152 servos
1 Futaba S9254 servo. (it does need new gears)
1 Futaba GY-401
1 Futaba 138DP receiver
1 Futaba HD switch
1 2000MAH 4 cell receiver pack
1 OS .37 SZ-H it has a half gallon through it.

I was going to order a R30 V2 from HeliProz along with a 29BB to 49BB upgrade kit, Hatori SAB-6RS pipe, and a Mavrikk crash kit. Are there any other things I should get now so I don't have to go back in and fix later? Is the Mavrikk crash kit ok?

sounds good, when I started I bought the 30v2 arf pro. IT has all the bearings.
also get part# pv0499, sus tail rotor hub. The stock one is prone to failure.

Is that the correct part number? Is says R50/R90.

What about head parts? For a beginner is it worth it to upgrade to any metal head parts? What about metal tail slider? Push pull controls? Carbon/CNC pitch control?

I know I won't be able to take advantage of the performance benefits of these parts for awhile but what about durability?

Order PV0499 when you order the kit and replace the tail hub with that one, also as you likely know, you'll want some decent clunk line for the clunks or else they will be sucking air in a matter of a couple of gallons.

Header tank, fuel line shut-off, maybe even a volt meter.
