Well my crash last weekend took out my Hyperion 3025-10 motor!
I got the Lepton all rerpaired and went to spool her up and got really BAD cogging of the motor... DARN IT I thought...
Well inspection showed when I crashed under power I burnt 2 windings on my motor :(
I am thinking or rewinding it myself then thought... Hmmm might be time to try a different motor!
Whats the reccomendation now?
Muddbogger if you were to get a new motor would you go 3025-10 or 12? I know you started with the 12. Does that run a little cooler or higher on the throttle curves than the 10?
How about thew Hacker? What are you running now?
Thanks ,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Sorry about the crash.
I would get the 12T over the 10T. It does run a higher throttle% than the 10 and a little cooler but still has the power.
I am currently running a Hacker A30-12XL with a fan on 5S and have no plans to try any other motor after this one. :twisted:
For 4s the A30-10XL would be the choice.

Thanks Jon....
I think I will get the 12XL for 5S and the hyperion 12 for 4S. I have a feeling I will like 5S even better now that Kovi sent me the 19T pinion :)

Jon, the 10T vs 12T.
Remember you asking if you thought you had a 10 instead of a 12 or visa versa? Wasnt that you?
Well look at my motor above. It's got 12 winding posts yet is labeled a 10?
I would have though a 10T would have had 10 posts?
What did you finally find out about your 12?

That was indeed me.

The # of turns and the poles are not really related to the KV rating anyway.
I do believe my 12T was indeed a 12T but I do not think Hyperion has a very accurate KV rating on thier motors. Thus the reason the lower KV rated hyperion motors wil outperform(spin faster) other motors with a higher KV rating.

I was reviewing the specs ont he 10T vs the 12T....
The KV rating is larger difference than I thought!
10T = 815
12T = 664
Jon,
I had great power with the 10T but did have my curves at about 85% max to keep the head speed just under 3K. You were able to get that kind of power with the 12T just higher curves? Did you actually every try a 10T and see the difference?
Due to the ratings I am a little worried I wont get the same raw power from the 12 but if you did try the 10 and were able to get the same power from it as the 12 by upping the curves then I will go for it...
The Hacker 12 is on order too so I can play around with 5S as well :)

Yes, I had very good power around 2800rpm with throttle around 95% on the 12T.
I never tried a 10T just going by what others had posted.

Finman..
IMO if you liked the power of the 10 T it won't be there with the 12...The 10 is insane, the 12 is just way too much...I'd like to try my 10 again with a smaller pinion.the 10 with the 19 tooth might just be the ticket..I pencil it out as needing 21 tooth, but my math is like my plumbing skills... :lol:

bob, I had a crash as well,
but it was totally my fault - been enjoying my Lepton for the last few weeks, so of course I decide I can't get enough and decide to hover it on the side of my friend house to test out a new battery - guess my mand was wandering and didn't notice the cable TV cable hovering way above - in any event, just so you know - the lepton can cut through a cable TV wire - we had to re-splice the cable to get TV back to the house, but the Lepton was beaten up pretty bad - about $200 including cost of blades. I just hope I didn't burn out the motor - once I get the parts - will check it out and see if the motor works. boy was i pissed, that is such a stupid way to put a helicopter out of commission.

John did you actually try a 3025-12T and know I wont like it? What are you running now?
Buster I have a 19T pinion but my math gives about 2500 with 100% T curve... I did enjoy 2900 with my 3025-10T but didnt like the curve max at 85% and the motor /ESC temps... I know 130 on the motor (with the fan) and 155 on the ESC is not that bad but would like to be closer to 120 range and 100% on the Tcurve for best efficiency...
