I had to take a day off from editing and get the L10 airbourne. So here are a few pics of the heli. The canopy isn't finished but I only had a day to paint, dial her in and snap a few shots. The wife grabbed a few but this one is virgin from the cam......more to come. As soon as I finish this HUGE corp/education gig. (930 hrs of editing due by the end of Nov.)

Looks real nice Anthony.

What power system are you running in it?

GGoodrums AP combo, L10 Deluxe Hacker A30-10XL (20T) CC 45HV, UBEC Futaba 3102's GY401 w/9254 FP 3700 mah 6S1P. My trim flight was approximately 9mins and I put back 2000mah. 12 mins should be comfortable 15 would be pushing it.

I'm digging the logo, the head is very similar to the vario head on my silence. maybe I'll be looking into a L14 for video since the parts are more available than the Vario.

Ant

Nice Setup!

Any idea what your all up weight is?

you can easily stretch logo 10 to 550mm. logo 14 to 600mm. logo 14 is a great heli as well. I have couple logo 10s. good heli for the money and ideal small area AP heli.

How are you managing 9 minutes? I've got the a30-8xl on 6s emolis and 6 minutes is tops and I don't have a heavy mount.

Enigma,
I was told that this setup should give me around 15 minutes of flight time, that was from Gary at tp packs. He did all the math using KC's SS when he was putting together the package. I had her up one time and flight time on the radio was 12 minutes. I'm saying that 9 minutes were in the air and the other 3 were range check, spool up/down etc... I put in 2 amps on a 3.7 amp pack..... I would assume that Gary's figures are pretty close.

As for my all up weight, the askman mount and the Optio are very light. I'd bet that my setup AUW with the cam/mount and Lipos is lighter than your 's running the emolis. emolis are just about as heavy as nicads and nimhds.

Also I believe the emolis drop voltage faster than lipos....I'd say see if you can borrow someones lipo pack for a flight and see where your time goes.

Anthony

thanks, I am beginning to dislike the emolis!

I believe gary is running 8S emoli and getting 10 min flight with 1910 motor. I am planning on 10S A123 for about 8-10 min flight as well. (may be bit less) on tango.

The eMolis are great, if you are on a budget, but nothing will beat the FP Evo 20s for lightness and duration.

The nice thinng about the Logos is that all models share a lot of parts, so mixing and matching is quite easy. You can actually put an 830mm Logo 24 boom on a Logo 10, and run 700mm blades. Three years ago I put the Logo 20 boom on my custom CF-framed L10 and ran 600 blades. There are also two complete head assemblies, one for the L10 and heavier duty version for the L14/L20/L24. For AP/AV work, the L10 version is more than strong enough.

What the Logo 14 frameset has, over the L10/L20/L24 versions is a driven tail. I think this is an important feature to have for anything with 600 blades, or bigger, as it allows for controlled autos. A Logo 10 with an AP/AV setup won't auto that well anyway, but everything is so much lighter that crash survivability is a lot better. My Logo 10 Carbon, with the AskmanAP mount survived an 80-foot drop through a tree to the ground with little more damage than a bent flybar and a cracked CF boom.

The other major difference between the L10s, the L14s and L20/24s are servo sizes. The Logo 10 is sized for using the small digitals, like the JR 3421s or the Futaba 3150s. The Log0 14s work best with the "mid-size" Futaba 9650s and the L20/L24s use full-size servos, like the Raptors. Since we used to run my stretched Logo 10 with 600 blades and used the 3421s with no problem, I think it is safe to assume that this size will do fine for our AP/AV setups. My personal favorite is the Futaba 3150s. They are strong, very light and quite accurate. They aren't as fast as the 3421s but unless you are doing extreme 3D, they are more than fast enough.

For lightweight setups (cameras 1lb, or less...), I think the Logo 10 with 500-515 blades is pretty close to perfect. If you need to carry anything heavier, I'd recommend going to the L20 boom/belt, and running 600s. I wouldn't bother with 550s. They really isn't much of a difference over using the regular 500s. What would be the best of all worlds for a truly AP/AV-optimized heavier duty Logo setup, in my mind, would be a modified Logo 10 Carbon frameset that could use the Logo 14's split-gear/driven tail setup, the Logo 20 CF boom/belt, 600 blades, the Logo 10 head and the lightweight 3150 servos. For power, there's lots of options, from 8s to 12s, all of which could be good for 15 minute durations.

For me, I want to keep mine as a regular Logo 10, with 500 blades. I have the Raptors for the bigger stuff. :)

Hi Anthony,

Nice setup!! I see that you choose a Logo!!! Good choice! You won't regret it, they are very reliable and those Askman mounts are totally awesome.

...maybe I'll be looking into a L14 for video since the parts are more available than the Vario.

For a small camera ship, take a look at the Bionic (non stretched) too. I'm actually testing a front mount from Askman and my first tests are so concluant!! I'll post a video of it soon.

Here is a pic (when I attached the mount to the ship):

I remember that you were looking for a compact ship then the L14 is a good compromise between stability/cost and size but you already know it.

A+
