gy401 will not hold heading

I have setup my GY401 using a 14mz and I cannot get it to respond in HH mode. An example is that when I move the tail by hand the servo does not repsond. It does respond if it is not in HH mode but not in HH mode (light on)

limit set to 120
delay set to zero
Ball 7mm from center
Gyro on ch3 (14mz)
The radio is set on gyro page to GY AVCS and 50%

All I do is turn on the radio, power on the heli, wait 3 seconds and then with the light on move the boom by hand and look for movement in the servo and there is none. I can move the tail with the stick to full deflection in either direction with the gyro in either HH mode (light on) or non HH mode (light off)

I have no clue as to why it is this way

Here's a dumb question: Does the gyro setting go from 0-100 or -100-0-100? If it's from 0-100, then 50% is basically off. you need <50% for rate mode and >50% for AVCS mode.

If it's from -100 to 100, then I don't know what the problem is :?

The futaba gyro screens display the actual gain. So 50 is half the available gain in whatever mode you have it in.
