I have heard that with plastiblades on a blade cp with a stock tailboom that when doing even a slight rough landing that the blade touches the boom..

I have the plastiblades and have done numerous very hard landing and with a nice coat of structural adhesive on the boom at about 3-4 grams at the most for added weight it served very well for me...Just thought i'd share...Because the wooden blades busted pretty quick... and the plastiblades can bust your boom...

if you look at the crack on the boom to fwd fuselage section on the IMG_1246 Picture I was at approx. 10-15 feet when I lost control(dont ask me why) and it hit the pavement pretty hard..obviously bent the main gear pretty bad, broke a grip ,busted the t/r and cracked the landing gear..the blades hit the boom as well and all it made to the boom was that crack.....

Forgot to mention that i put the adhesive on the for webs and gear supports on the frame...that was my second frame till i added the adhesive..it will not beak now unless you run over it with you car

My tail boom is longitudinedly shattered, but tightly wound sticky tape has held it rigid for months - see my gallery......

Oh yeah she gets a beating alright - I'm getting better now (a bit), but my CP is a twitchy little beast with a mind of its own. The tailboom happened in low light against the twilight sun, she turned around and I could only see silhouette, next thing she was zooming straight toward me on a 30 deg diving trajectory. I sidestepped quickly and she bit the dirt behind me - lesson learned, don't fly against the light.......

eeheh yes i would imagine the situation....Do you have plastiblades or wood?

I have used woodies and they are ok and cheap, but the stock blades are actually CF - twice the cost of woodies, but far more durable. So far I've hit a wood fence, my car, a rose bush, the road and me(twice). The wood blades are lighter, but I can't notice any difference in flight (its horrible either way  ).

woodies..i never saw any for the cp yet..does the local shops usually have them.....as for the cp hittting you twice..well ehhehe the blades hit the transmitter antenna and broke it off....i need another remnote control antenna now ...

Okay, I broke my boom again today.... like rick, I wrapped it in tape for now. I have another but don't feel like doing the work, I just want to fly. What and where do I get this construction adhesive as I want to use it on my next boom before installing.

I used Hysol EA N9309 NA3 its an aviation structural adhesive..i was mixing a batch for work so I made some more for my boom

baiscally any hard coating i would try...if the blades hit the boom at least it would just crack the adhesive

Okay, I have plenty 30 min epoxy... I might give it a try..... I think I'll try to rig up some sort of low speed lathe with a drill and then paint on the 30 min and let it keep spinning till it dries to get a nice smooth even coating.
