I know that some of you guys are using the Stratus in the US for FAI I was wondering how you were getting on with them. I have just bought a second Stratus and was thinking of setting it up for FAI using the FAI Head and one of the FAI gear ratio sets. The model has the 3D Tail set up with the open box however I shall probably leave that as is, I dont see there would be much benefit of going to the expense to convert it.

What ratio would you recommend that I run with a YS 91... 7.75:1 ?

Also with the new schedule I know that people are now running a slightly stiffer head set up to cope with the aeros, what damper combo and shims do you guys run on the FAI head.

Finally what ratios and delta settings are you all running?

Thanks

I'm running the 7.91 (12/95) gear ratio with the YS 91 on a Hatori SB16FH. I am using one thin shim with a 50/60 O-ring combo with 196 gr 720mm Rotortech blades and 8.5mm of non-correcting delta. I am currently using a .9:1 mix ratio which seems to be pretty much the standard for this head although I have seem .8:1 in a couple of places.

Gordie,

what head speeds are you running for hovering and aeros?

why 7.91 I thought 7.75 was considered the ratio for FAI or is it a case of 7.75 for OS and 7.91 for YS (in the same wau that 8.18 is for OS and 8.45 for YS is for 3D)

After a lot of experimenting, we found that we could run the 7.75 in the cool months and be fine BUT, I live in Florida and in the heat of the summer, we just couldn't get enough power out of the motor to pull the taller gear. The 7.91 works very well even in the summer so we all pretty much went with that.
I am hovering around 1450-1500 and am turning 1950-2000 in the aeros.

Gordie, I live in the UK so I don't see high temperatures being a major concern I think I will give the 7.75 ratio so I need to order some bits !

Can anyone let me know what the MA Part numbers are for the Stratus ratio plates.

I think I have the right pinion and maingear part nos below?

7.75 main gear and pinion 122-51 & 0865-93
