i am almost done building a T-Rex 450SE, and now i need to purchase a radio.

dont have anything at this point; have settled on either the JR 9303 or a Futaba 9CHPS. i kind of like the feel of the JR better, but since i have not owned a radio before, i dont really have a clue what the tradeoffs are.

any hints? or is this simply a chevy v. ford issue and it doesnt matter that much? they both seem like great radios.

thanks.

I own both radios and there isn't much difference in the functionality of the two. Both provide very reliable RF links and have excellent helicopter programming capabilities. The 9C has better switch assigning if that is important to you, and the 9103 has much more user-friendly software interface. The 9103 will hold 30 models the 9C holds 9 with out Futaba's 16K memory module (Campac) that will hold I think five more models. Some packages contain the extra memory and some don't. The street price of the module is $25. The Futaba is usually a little less expensive than the JR. As you suggested, they are both great mid range radios.

If you dont have anything invested in recievers then really it comes down to how the radios feel to you. I have small hands and don't really like the JRs, a buddy of mine cant put his fingers between the upper switches on mine comfortably like he can on his JR.

Functionally they will both probably do more than you will ever need.

The 9C Super is 18 models with Campac

All the facts have been stated quite well. I would like to add, that if you are new to RC, you fly the brand that the local flyers use so that you can get quick and quality help.

They are both great . It's like Ford and Chevy . It's up to you they are both fine radio's you can't go wrong either way . I have the 9303 and I wouldn't say anything bad about the 9C so flip a coin is the best I can tell you . :) Also What Jay said is the best advice on here .
