I have a question for you tuning gurus. What does it mean when an engine hangs on the pipe like during an auto? I know what it sounds like, but internally, what is going on with the tuning? Thanks.

Would the mid range needle or the low end be too lean?

usually leave the low needle alone after reliable idle...fix any hanging on the pipe with your high needle after full pitch climb outs, hitting thr hold rigth after (gov off and around 11 or 12 deg of pitch).

Contact "Corona" on here or RR. I'm a big fan of his tunning threads!

depends on where it's hanging

I would probably go 2 clicks out on your YS mid and see if that cures it. If you're in a hover and it hangs going straight to TH, then I would richen the idle a bit.

IF generaly FF and then TH=hanging then I would riching mid.

IF after extended tic tocs or full power climbouts you get some hanging then richen the high.

Be careful as YS really won't tolerate lean running for long wtih taco'ing something

Hanging on the pipe??

a "RING A DING DING" sound upon an auto or landing , takes along time to get to an idle , if your motor is a 50 Hyper , turn your idle screw to factory making the slot inline with the carb barrel , single neelde carbs will have a slight transition burble from idle to full speed , thats fine , depending where you are and your fuel if its 30% nitro turn your mixture needle to 1.5 turns out and tune from their , check temps , do a full pitch climb out OR high speed pass into contant big loops will tell you if your lean or rich , if the helicopter starts off with power and then fades off , your lean , if the helicopter starts off sluggish your rich , find the balance , hanging on the pipe is a sign its got way to hot

I was just going to say that! I had my first dirtbike at about 8 years old. I can still hear that high tinny "rin nin nin nin nin".
