Has anyone done this? I am having the problem as stating in this link. Does anyone know were I can find shims to shim my main gear? I have a good amount of up and down play.

Here is the link of what Im talking about:

It's really a non-issue but there is some history about this page on Michael's site. The V1 Raptor suffers from a condition called the wah wahs. This is a very irritating resonate vibration that some incorrectly thought that was cause by the up and down play in the Raptor main gear. This was not the case which was proven when Thunder Tiger changed the starter/clutch system in the V2 which cured the wah wahs. Nothing was changed in the main shaft area. Whatever caused the wah wahs in the V1 Raptor was cured by the changes made in the V2. If you want to eliminate the play you can get the shims from Rick's RC. www.ronlund.com Search the term "raptor shim".He has them in .1mm and .2mm. They are listed for the 30 but of course they fit the 50 as well. I don't think anyone does this anymore as the play has no effect on the flight performance or reliability of the helicopter.

OK, thankx alot. I have about maybe 20 flights on my Rappy and Im now getting a like vibration sound or like a bad bearing I can hear it when hovering about head height and when I let off the gas some, never on spinup. I think I gotta take the head apart and check the oneway and main bearings and then prolly the tail bearings.

It is possible that you had a bad bearing to start with, but highly unlikely that you've had a good bearing go bad after just 20 flights unless you've crashed or built something wrong My primary Raptor has over 850 flights and I've changed the main pinion bearing twice and the tail rotor bearings once. The clutch bell bearing was changed when I upgraded to a newer clutch bell. Crashing can cause early failure of your main shaft bearings especially the top one. One thing to check while you have your machine apart is the fit of the pinion bearing on the pinion. This is supposed to be a tight fit. Not quite an interference (press) fit, but you should have to struggle a little to push the bearing on. Quite often the fit is too loose and causes early wear of the pinion bearing. If the bearing is still good or you fit a new bearing use a little retaining compound such as Loctite 680 to secure the inner race to the pinion. If you can't get your hands on Loctite 680 a little red thread lock will work OK.

Yeah, Ive never crashed it. Just been hovering, threw it around a little bit this last weekend, but never downed it. It just started making this noise. Ive never had a problem before.
