View Full Version : Tail not holding

I finally got around to trying some aerobatics on my Lepton but I'm having issues with the tail. Outlined below is my setup.
Hacker A30-10XL
4s Emoli
401/9254 combo on the tail
Viper plastic tail blades
I'm running a headspeed of about 2700. When I do aileron/barrel rolls the tail kicks out bad. It kicks out somewhat on flips but not as bad and has minor kick on hard verticals. I've got the recommended tail blades and I'm running a very good servo on the tail so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Any ideas?

how's your throttle curve? you may be losing too much headspeed.

No throttle curve. Using a Jazz with governor mode.

Finger input perhaps? I have seen this be the cause of it many times.

The only reason I don't think it's dumb thumbs is it only happens on the Lepton. I flew my T-rex right before and right after with no issues.

check the tension on your belt, make sure its not too tight.

Isn't the belt supposed to be tighter than normal? That's what I was told when I spoke with Jeff.

does the rpm have a noticable drop when rolling and flipping? May be the emoils dropping voltage compared to higher 'c' rated lipos. :dontknow

yea emoli's are best for sports flying, not aerobatics like rolls and flips. Frittslogic said they are actually only 12C rating.

Even if they are 3000mah 15c that still isnt "enough"

My max head speed with Hyperion 3700's is about 2950 RPM and it will 'just' keep 2700 under heavy load. I expect the emoli is not holding voltage as others have sugested.
I'm using the same motor.
Maybe run a lower head speed so that it won't 'drop off' under load.
