Let me start off by saying I'm knew as can be to flying helicopters, but my question is would a raptor 90 kit with no motor at a good price be a good starter copter or to much for a beginner. (i've been flying simulator for about a month and own no helicopter as of yet.)

While there is certainly no "law" against getting a 90 size nitro as your first bird, I would highly discourage it. Not just from the standpoint of it's expensive, but also from the safety factor for both you and people around you. If you are just starting out, get yourself a nice 50 size machine and learn as much as you can on it. Once you become comfortable in flying that with confidence and are also confident in your build and setup skills, you should be ready for the larger machines.

Well at some point you are going to need a motor.

If you have money to burn a 90 is nice but a bit intimidating.

A 50 flys nearly as well, costs less, uses less fuel and costs half as much per crash.

The 50 titan with a hyper engine, some decent servos and a 401/9254 gyro servo combo will take you a long way.

Most people I know who fly big 90:s have started doing more and more of their practice on Raptor 50:s with Hyper engines. Much cheaper, and has almost as much power.

If you can get the 90 at a deal, get it. Then sell it on here to pay for the 50! I love my 50!
