I just bought one pound of led in the form of fishing sinker weights and i thought it was too much weight.... After placing it on the very tip of the radio tray along with huge NiCd battery it's still tail heavy. Please let me know how much weight you guys (and girls) use to make the helicopter slightly nose heavy. I like how nose heavy helis fly. They seem to be more stable in cruse. Is it possible to make this beast nose heavy and will it lift of if i put in enough ballast?

Thanks,
David

I put exactly 1 pound of lead in the nose inside of a plastic box and it balanced right on. I had no problems with power authority...this thing has muscle.

If I remember correctly, I had to use 18 oz on mine. You could make it nose heavy but I can't imagine why. It flys so nice when balanced just right. Will it lift it? Without a doubt. Hardly notice the difference when my camera mount is on or off!

Put in however much you need to make it balance. The amount of weight that other people use isn't important... it's your machine. You may have different equipment in different places than other people do. Just put in what you need, and go enjoy!

I know there are different opinions on this, but I typically will balance the heli with half a tank of fuel. This may slightly reduce the amount of nose weight needed.

And as stated, the EB feels no ill effect from the added weight.

I follow the same standard as Chris, 1/2 tank - I also place as much of my electronics up front as possible.

Remember the G26 is a workhorse and wants to work in it's powerband so when she is tuned as Mark stated above, it's hard to discern the difference in lift with or without the mount.

Mine had NO extra nose weight at all. I moved the tail servo up front, added a G10 plate to hold it and had the batteries pushed right up front. Also replaced the tail fins with carbon. AUW was about 14.5 lbs.

Now I have it converted to electric with big batteries up front and AUW about 14lbs.

Could you please post the specs on that electric conversion? What size blades are you running, gear ratios, motor & battery type? Thanks

Some pics and description are on page 2 of this thread http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?t=14145
Next time I have the canopy off, I can take a pic of the front end.

I added around 19 oz of weight. I used lead from wheel balancing weights, the stick on weights. I went to Discount Tires and they ended up giving me the weights free! :D I ended up adding them in a box, about the middle of the battery tray. I also ended up putting the battery and radio in the same box with a bunch of padding
