The Walkera 1#A is not bad, i would get it over the 60 as it glitches a lot and the 1#A is brushless standard which you want. Just get the one with the metal head, its good value for money and great for learner.

All,
Pitched up paddles 10d, tightened blades, tried 60 to 120mm flybars, even with solder wrap, to no good effect. All separate experiments, one variable at a time.
I see the swash respond to my inputs, so it's not the servo or the 4-1, but the d*mned flybar won't control the blades.
I got a bag full of parts and replaced the entire head, except for the blades, and those I switched with the spares that came with the heli!
It's just too slow to respond. I use massive stick throws to keep level and every thing goes left to right (or reverse) and out of control. If I try to be gentle with it, it just goes, somewhere...
I can fly just about anything else, at least in straight and level. What gives with this beast?

I started my addiction with the walkera 36, its a good heli to learn on very stable and hovers very well , the only upgrade i did to that heli was to add a brushless and lipo : lessons learnt : read and learn the setup and you will have no problems that dont appear on other helis.
Total cost £120 and she still flies well 3 years later.
Progressed to the Walkera 60 from the box it was a little glitchy, added a decent esc and brushless servos are tower tower pro 9g moved the receiver to the back underneath the main gear that cured ALL glitching moved the tail servo to the boom to get rid of the linkage and raised the lower frame 5mm so that a 3s lipo would fit in the space in the frame, totally different heli now and flies perfectly fine , faster and more suitable for fff and possibly 3d although im not interested in that. Also changed the tail blades for trex ones and use 305mm main blades.
Total cost £180-190 including all upgrades
Bearing in mind that here a nice trex alloy head costs £90 from local hobby shop or
T-REX 450SE V2 CDE
KX015043A (black) OR
KX015042A (silver)
325 Carbon blades
More Summary
Price: £237.99 ex.VAT
£279.64 incl.VAT Probably cheaper online and from china but then you have to mess around with customs and returns etcetc
Overall impressions are nice and cheap which in this hobby is always a bonus, parts are of the same quality as Esky ( i also have an Esky honey bee king II and a honey bee cool ) and quite a few are interchangeable, if you have the time to learn to set one up then youll do great ( if you dont have the time then you shouldnt be doing this lol ) I have a trex 450sa and copterx on the way from overseas and bearing in mind that the trex airframe alone (ie no electronics at all ) cost me around the same as my walkera 60 plus all electronics i hope the quality of parts will be perfect ( otherwise it will be going back brand names mean nothing to me lol) and the copterx is supposedly of comparable quality so we shall see.

What gyro is it? The GY06/07 etc are like that, the GY11 is much better, has same features of the 401, not as good but good for the $40 or whatever it is

Belt mod is not the way to go. A small brushless motor with esc, and a variable pitch tail with servo/gyro has worked on similar sized helicopters with motor driven tails. Much, much easier to engineer than a belt mod. I am getting ready to do a full separates conversion on my 22E that has been sitting dead on my shelf for months. First phase will be brushless/esc/gyro/rx. I have a twin motor tail on right now that works well for the time being. Phase two will be the brushless tail motor/variable pitch tail.
The only reason I am doing this is because I like to tinker, and the 22E is a fun size to fly

I have a ton of Walkera 36 parts. I decided not to rebuild it after the last crash. Anybody interested in a lot of parts cheap? PM me and I'll send you the list.

Hi Guys
I have a Walkera 52 but would like to run it on either my 35MHz JR XP652 or Spektrum DX7 radio. Any ideas on how I might achieve this - I am guessing that I need to replace the Walkera 4 in 1 with something compatible with either the JR or Spektrum systems - any suggestions on a suitable bit of kit for this?
Thanks
Ben

waste of time, it is custom job to get the tail motor to work with another ESC will cost you double what the heli did.

There is no kit. What you will need to do is to get whatever receiver, then if the helicopter does not have a brushless motor, you will need that as well as an esc for it. You will also need a separate gyro, and a small brushed esc to drive the tail motor if you choose to stay brushed. Brushless tail motors work poorly unless you run it at a constant speed and set up a variable pitch setup with a tail servo. As you might guess, this snowballs into a situation where you are spending more money than if you bought a better helicopter, and may end up with a difficult to tune and fly helicopter.
I actually am doing a separates conversion on a Walkera 22E, but I am using spare parts, and doing everything I can to not spend money. I actually only need a gyro and a brushed esc for the tail, but I am in no hurry to do this. If I upgrade a gyro on my other helicopters I'll hand-me-down the old gyro to the 22E project.

i have the walkera 60 and just took the stock motor and esc out and dumped in an eflite 420 outrunner 3800Kv with a eflite 20-25 esc brushless and a eflite 3s 11.1v 1800mah. now just need to look for a user manual on the charger and i'll be good to go with charging i hope.... its the eflite 3-cell 11.1v li-po balancing charger. when i had the stock stuff the battery wouldnt last more then 3 minutes so i decided to go brushless. :) no probs at all with the 60.

Hello folks,
I tried to search for opinions on the Walkera#38, tandem rotor, but found not thread involving it.
http://www.ehirobo.com/newsletter/image/walkera_38_2_4.gif
Is it any good? Does it fly? Is it just a show piece, or is it worth the money?
It's going for $179.99 with a 2.4GHz radio from eHirobo.
Any opinions are welcome.
thanks
