So what's the preferred Throttle servo?
What are you guys using?

I took all my old rudder servos (9254's) and put them on throttle duty. Read the new TJ revmax's don't support the highframe rate anymore though. Probably going to use 9252's I have on my two new builds. Also have read alot of guys recomend the rudder servo that comes in the Align LE kits for use as a throttle, can't recall the number. (DS 620?)

I'm building right now the LE and went with the Align DS 620. I'll run it at 5.0 Volts on my AR 7100/R, or should I put in on the unregulated side to run it at 8 Volts:thinking. I don't know that yet, haven't made up my mind.;)
The Align tail servo is the DS 650.

620 +1 :)
I was planning on using the 620 as well, but then I found out that the 650 cost $3 more, so I went with that... ;)

how about the GP750 that comes with the LE
That can be run upto 7 volts so you don't need a regulator.
Thoughts?

I'm curious to what the advantage is to a servo that fast on the throttle.
Also, the 9254 will run pefectly well at a normal frame rate, it doesn't need the 270hz output that the 401 capable of delivering.

Scotty,
are we talking about gyros or throttle servos?

I use the align DS620's on my throttle for both of my nitros!!!

I suspect there aren't any advantages! I can't say that as a fact but I just don't see an engine being able to react that fast to the change in throttle position.

I choose it because it was Small, Light and Fast.
There may not be a gain in preformance from the engine due to the fast servo, but a least I know it's not causing any.
The main reasons I bought this one was because it light and I used it on my 600.
It has lasted 3 year without a problem. Others are using it, So I though why not.

Exactly.
Here's 3 things to consider.
1. There's no load on the throttle servo so its always going to be faster than the swash servos.
2. The throttle servo doesn't move very far in comparison to the swash servos during 3D when we care about such things.
3. An internal combustion engine can only respond so quickly to throttle changes no matter how fast you yank the throttle arm back and forth.
So...... .05 rudder servos are pointless. Will it hurt? No. Will it help? No.

Like I sad, The main reason I used it was for the weight.

I see Gforce has an adopter plate for using micro servos in the throttle position. Will a Hitec HS65HB be good enough as a throttle servo?
