Hi!

I'm just finishing my 700LE build, and it seems I've put in one of the governor magnets on the clutch the wrong way :arggg:

The LED on the RCE-600 turns off when both of the magnets passes..

For safty I've glued magnets with CA :(

Any tip on how to remove one so I can turn it around?

Plastic or metal fan? If plastic, drill a small hole on the back side and try to get some alcohol or acetone to release the glue. Metal, heat it with a small torch.

It's on a metal clutch bell.. I just got a tip that if I heat one of the magnets with a soldering iron, it will loose its magnetism.. And then the gov will work properly.. Anybody tried this?

if I heat one of the magnets with a soldering iron, it will loose its magnetism.

The Currie effect. This is how the old Weller soldering irons work. The magnet holds a reed switch closed so the heat element has power. The magnet loses magnetism and the reed switch opens. The iron cools down. I think for the magnet to loose all magnetism takes quite a high temperature though.

If it's a stock clutch it's aluminum. So the magnet is not holding onto it. Magnets dont pick up aluminum. What your doing is heating the CA glue to get it to break its bond. Heating with a soldering iron should work fine or you can drill a hole on the back side until you hit the magnet and push it out. you should have originally drilled a small hole anyway to release some of the glue when first installing.

Oh, now you're telling us...:roll::lol:

if its ca you could try a little acetone to sofen the bond.

if thats no worky a little small hole drilled through the back side and you should be able to tap it out.

Thanks for all the replies, guys!

I did use the method with a soldering iron, and it worked :thumbup:
The clutch bell did get a bit hot, so I hope I didn't weakend the other magnet.. The governor only reads one magnet now, so it seems to be fine..

I did get a lot of replies at a Norwegian heli forum as well, and several users had used the same method..

I wouldnt recommend the soldering iron.Alternatively, try this, drill a 1mm hole from behind the clutch bell then push it out. Worked for me.

after doing this on my first nitro now before installing magnets i always drill a small hole in the fan below the magnets and it lets the air out between the magnet also letting you pop it out if needed

exactly, two in one purpose hole.
