I am having some problems with my CH-46. I am setting it up with the 3 blade heads. It has a severe oscillation when it gets up to takeoff speed, and the motor is cutting in and out rapidly. Everything is hooked up according to the instructions, what am I doing wrong?

Hi Furyevo,

Although I have no personal experience with that model, I'll take a stab at it...

What do you mean by oscillations? Are they side to side, up and down, etc.? Can you describe them a bit more?

Also, I assume that the heli has flown satisfactorily with the two-blade heads. Is this correct?

Side to side. I bought it with the 3 blade heads installed, but the two blade heads came with it. I was going to try mounting the 2 blade heads to see what happened. From what I've come up with, the 3 blade heads have no dampening, therefore require flexable blades. I wanted a twin brother for my Hirobo Vertol, so I really want these 3 blade heads to work.

OK... side to side vibration. Most of the time, side-to-side means blades are out of balance or are too tight in the grips and can't swing out to find their favorite feathering-axis angle. Have you match-balanced each set of blades? Also, if the blades are tight in the grips, try loosening the blade bolt by a quarter of a turn or so.

As for the motor cutting off and on rapidly, do you have the ESC's governor active? If so, try disabling that and using curves until you get everything smoothed out in the flight envelope.

Let us know how it goes.

I just joined the forum and realize the posts are a few months old, but I have a new virgin kit of this MS /composits Chinook if anybody is interested. Regards: Byron
