Im just puting a Stratus flybar cage assembly on to a Fury extreme.

Question..
Im guessing the MA flybars are not 4mm but some oddball imperial size as i cant slide the new carrier parts over my 4mm flybar.
Both my Furys run 4mm bars with the carrier bearings obviously 4mm ID, i remember buying 4mm ID bearings after a crash because i could only get hold of a millenium flybar at the time.

With the new Stratus system am i committed to using the MA oddball size flybars or is there something i can do about it?
Thanks

As far as I know all Fury Extreme and Stratus flybars are 4mm. My flybars are and the new flybar carrier fits just fine.

on the rare few, the threads get slightly oversized during the threading process. Take some 600 grit paper and work the threads a little and it'll slip right in.
Be careful not to overtighten the grub screws or removal after a crash is difficult.

The carrier parts are reamed to fit the MA flybar. If you have one that is a different size, it may not work. The parts are very close tolerance precision fit.

Also on a side note, don't get carried away tightening the set screws holding the flybar or you will play hell getting it apart after a crash. Just snug them up, there are 4 so it will hold just fine.

yeah i would follow erics and waynes comments,

don't overtighten it, it gives you the serious SH!TS  i am prone to overtightening those little grub screws and i always have to tell myself they only need to be snugged up nicely with loctite

Ok, but strange.
I was told (cant remember where) that MA flybars were 5/32" or 3.96mm, an imperial size.
So, just to confirm the MA flybars are metric 4mm?

Wayne and Bob, do you use Min Air flybars after a bump or change to another brand?

Its just that my extreme flybar was a robbe millenium one cos i couldnt get an MA one at the time and i remember having to change the original carrier bearings out for some with a larger ID.
Thanks

I use MA parts on MA birds.. well on some of the other brands too.
As far as I know they are 4mm.

Tony,

Just to make sure, I measured the flybar on my Stratus and my Raptor 90 with an uncalibrated electronic caliper and they both measured an identical 3.99mm. The fact that they are identical is the key as I'm positive the TT flybar is 4mm. I have always replaced with MA flybars.

Flybars are (or at least were) 5/32 inch (3.96mm) but the SAE threads tend to go oversize when they are cut. Take a piece of emery cloth and dress the threads just a fuzz and they go right on and work pefectly. I rethread mine to 4mm to fit the FunTech paddles I use.
