I am about to pull the trigger on a 4#6 from wow.

I added a couple of transmission gear sets, since I remember reading somewhere
they break pretty easily.

What else isn't holding up to use and abuse?

Thanks-

The heli is actually pretty solid and can withstand a fair bit of abuse.

The paper covered foam blades are very light and won't damage your house, but they are extremely fragile... You will want to load up on a bunch of them for sure!

Feathering Shafts can suffer damage in a crash as well, so a few extra wouldn't be a bad idea.

A spare battery is always a good thing to get as well.

An extra flybar perhaps would also be prudent.

I'm always one to loose a screw here and there, so an extra pack or two of spare screws is a always a good idea.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Will the screws from a 4#3b work or will they be too small?

Foam blades huh... for some reason I thought they'd be plastic like my 4#3b.
I'll be sure to get a few of them too.

Can't wait till Novus starts putting out replacement parts for their rebranded 4#6.
Still on schedule for mid February?

4#3b screws are different (at least most) from 4#6, get 4#6 screw pack.

They are plastic, I think Steve confused 4#6 with 4G6.

Get a few gear sets, as they go quite easy!
Good luck!!

My bad... I stand corrected... the foam blades are for the 4G6.. the 4#6 blades are plastic like the 4#3B... in fact, almost identical except for being about an inch longer.

I got confused when posting and started writing up a list thinking you were asking about a 4G6, not a 4#6.

Sorry for the confusion!

Steve

The brass flybar paddle holders have broken a couple of times for me. The 4#3b brass holders seem to be the same and work find. Over 75 flights the only broken parts have been two brass holders, one T gear, and one main blade.Overall its pretty robust and still can not get over that locked in tail!

Are the 4G6 parts the same? Main shaft, Spindle, Gears (main/tail), Fly-bar?

Yep... the helis are almost identical... the 4G6 uses the foam blades so that is probably the olny difference, and the foam blades break easily, so I would add foam blades to the list for a 4G6.

what are some good flybar replacements other than stock.
I don't want to lose much maneuverability, but maybe some increase
hands free hover time would be nice. I bent the crap out of my original
flybar last night and need to replace it anyway.

Ideally, I'd like to use something from the lhs, but there are no walkera
suppliers near me. Would a flybar from the 4G3 (novus cp) work at all?

thanks

The 4G3 and 4G6 use the same flybar, however the 4#6 uses a slightly different one. In a pinch, it could work... the main difference is where the notches are cut out. If you are really in need of one quickly, you could always get some 1mm music wire (sometimes called piano wire) from your LHS and make your own (just cut it to lenght, but it won't have the notches cut out.

You can put vinyl tape, going a bit over the blade tips. It will make the foam blades a lot more durable in crashes, especially into a wall or into the pavement. With the vinyl tape, my last pair of blades took a crash that would write off an unprotected blade. The sound of the crash was awful but surprised to see that my foam blades were only scratched at tips:thumbup: My previous protected blades took more severe crashes also surviving in one piece and didn't damage the feathering and main shaft, so I guess the mod improved overall energy dissipation as well!

However, the 4#6 blade is a different story, I think it's the same material and flexibility as my 4#3B's stock blades. It should survive most crashes over and over!:YeaBaby:

If you know how to replace it, you can easily bend it back to shape. Even if you didn't, a very slightly bent flybar shouldn't harm stability or even cause vibration.;)

But in case you will replace it with aftermarket flybar with better stability, like you said, keep it as spare, you might think of repairing and reinstalling it one day as your skills improve

my guess is probably the same as a 4g6.

blades
main shaft
feathering shaft
tail gears
fly bar
blades
tail gears
lol

after having a 4g6 i have alot of spare parts for my 4#6. gotta see if the fly bar can be used with the 4#6 from the 4g6. i know they are different, but maybe it will work.

i ordered it yesterday before noon, but haven't received a shipped email now after 1130 pm. i find it hard to think it actually takes 36... ok i'll even say 24 hours to pull, and ship a order. but hey it will be here by wed/thurs at latest i'm sure. ya i'm impatient.
