i see upgrade kits that seem to have a longer boom, but not a longer belt? Do i HAVE to upgrade to v2 to go to a 50?
what isn't in the thunder tiger upgrade kit that i would still need?
Does the motor mount in the kit work for a Hyper .50?

All you really need to cram a 50 into your 30 is the motor mount and fan. There is a down side. The gear ratio is far too low for a 50 and you won't be able to run 600mm blades so over speeding will be a major problem. That along with the low gear ratio could make short work of your 50 engine.
To do the job properly you need the longer boom and belt. Yes, you need the longer belt if you use the longer boom. There are two 50 size booms and belts available now. The standard 50 and the Titan. The Titan boom and belt is long enough to run 620mm blades. Also you will need the 50 motor mount for your engine and the 50 fan along with the 85 tooth spur gear and 10 tooth pinion gear. The least expensive way to convert is the upgrade kit.

I guess my question about the upgrade kit then... why no belt? longer boom = longer belt obviously.... that's why im curious what else may still be needed above and beyond an upgrade kit.

Are you sure your were looking at the 30 to 50 upgrade kit and not the V1 to V2 kit? The 30 to 50 upgrade kit does contain a longer belt. If you are looking at a particular 30 to 50 kit and it doesn't contain a belt, someone has removed the belt from that particular kit. After the upgrade kit you need nothing to fly. You might want to pick up the new tail hub PV0499. It's much stronger than the stock hub and inexpensive.
