OK, crashed last weekend. :arggg: Put it all back together. :thumbs-up2: I replaced the flybar, headaxle, main bearings, one pitch control arm, blades. Everything went back fine. So, now I want to check my pitch and curves....I have no issue at -5, none at 0, but I can only get between 7 or 8 degrees on top. Now I have just stated flying this bird so I'm not sure what changed because on my first set up I had 10-0-(-5). Chris had set me up at Watervlet and it flew great. :D
Now I can't figure out what's different. :? I have no more pitch curve left, I'm at 100%. No end point left either and even if I did, the aileron would bind. So what to do. Do I move the swash plate up by extending each link by a couple of turns or do I play with the bell hiller mixer length or pitch arm length. I can't see anything different after the crash. I have everything set up according to the manual. I am running NHP 800 razor pros. Any suggestions would help

I'm having a similar strange problem after rebuilding my Gasser. The Hiller link and Bell link to one blade grip are much shorter than those to the other blade grip. The washout links are the same length, but considerably shorter than what is specified in the manual.
I have the driven tail upgrade and double-checked that I'm using the longer main shaft.
Thoughts?

After listening to Gary Travis on the setup video, I see that when he had to reduce the high end pitch, he shortened the pitch control arms. I just went to the garage and lengthened the pitch control arms by three turns each. This got me to 9.5 degrees on the top, plenty for what I will ever do. I also checked the bell-hiller mixer arm at 0 degrees and they are both horizontal as instructed in the manual. So I guess I'm back in business. Maybe once I put the main shaft back in after checking it it went in just a tad different. I just thought it strange that I'd have to make those adjustments once the machine was initially set up.

lperagallo,
Is it possible that Chris reduced your high end pitch during the setup session? I know the gasser isn't going to pull 9 1/2 to 10 degrees of pitch with 800's.
PaulH,
Check to see that your pitch arms are both still parallel to the head axle. They can get tweeked in a crash. If they are tweeked, they should be replaced.

Don't know if this will help. But try turning off the radio and heli, and move the swashplate up and down with your fingers as it would if you were using the radio. Try to notice if there is any binding. There may be something tweaked that you overlooked.
Can you get your pitch to 10 with the heli and radio turned off by just moving the swashplate with your hands?

I could not get the pitch to come up manually because the aileron srvo would hit the base and bind. I was able to get the pitch up by lengthening the long pitch control arms that come from the swash plate and go to the mixers. Based on the Gary Travis set up video i should be fine now unless someone knows of a reason not to ad three runs to those arms so that I end up being a bit longer then stated in the manual.

Malorie,
It is possible that Chris lower the pitch and I don't remember. We did so many things to the bird that day that my head was spinning. All the excitement of flying such a fine bird and so many checks and small corrections much of it ended up being a blur. I think I am all set at 9.5 degrees. I am just trying to get comfortable flying as I am pretty much a beginner.
While I was waiting for parts I took out the old Raptor 50 for a demo for a Boy Scout troop and what a pain bringing all the gear out again. Also just a quick 9 minutes and I had to land. I love just carrying out the bird and transmitter, a couple of pulls and wow, there we go.

I picked up a R50 for practice and notice the same thing myself. Either I'm checking the level in the tank or autoing after running out cuz it's gone so quick. It really only exists to save my EB from dumb thumbs so I guess thats ok :D

Well, the Gary Travis video is a great place to reference from. If you are set up as he explains, then I'm sure you are good to go.
Yeah those glo-helis burn a lot of fuel. And at $20.00 a gallon that really bites.
