View Full Version : Blade CP Pro Low Power?

Hi Guys:

Have a Blade CP Pro, exactly stock at the moment. I had a Blade CP. The CP had pretty good lift out when I punched the throttle, the CP Pro feels like it can barely get out of its own way. I have to fly it at pretty close to full throttle most of the time.

Anyone have any problems with these motors out of the box? The pitch looks pretty good, but I've never tried adjusting it. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Lee

only Idea i have is fly with throttle trim all the way up ( and u may already know this)

Yeah, I tried that, it doesn't really help, since I'm flying with the throttle pegged most of the time. I may pick up another motor to try.

Thanks,
Lee

Alsc , If you have a nicad battery in there you may want to discharge it fully then recharge.

Lee,

First, Check the control-links on the Servos, they should be on the outermost hole.
Second, what's the sound? Does it sound like there's a lot of power but nothing coming up or like the motor does not have enough power to crank the head to right speed?

Check the pitch, whenever the throttle/pitch is at center (normal or stunt), you must have 0° pitch. Maximum Pitch is in both modes 12°, Minimum in normal -2 in stunt -12°.

Make sure you have fully charged the battery. This may sound silly, but on the charger that comes with it, the light really must go out, otherwise the battery is not full. And this takes a bit more than an hour.

And if nothing helped, maybe you want to measure the battery voltage after charging, if it's somewhere between 6 and 8 Volts, you should get it replaced since one cell is dead.
Correct voltage should be somehwere between 9 and 13v. Be careful though when measuring not to create any short-circuits, those Lipo's don't like that at all...

Good luck,

Daniel

Daniel:

I have two packs and a good charger. Batteries are not a problem. Outer servo holes are in place. I'm putting a new motor in for kicks. Did the "break in" in water trick to see if that improves things. Will no when the weather improves.

I have a Brushless setup to put in, but I'm holding off on that a bit.

Cheers!

I'm hopen so. I purchased one of the Helidirect HDX300 motors and I'm using a Castle 25 speed control. Quite a bit lighter then the E-Flight stuff. Not sure how the HDX300 will be, but for $25 or so, it's worth a try.

The brushless is a night and day difference on the CPs. Bolt it all up and fly it. You'll toss those brushed motors in a heartbeat.

I'm getting there. ;-) I appreciate the simplicity and low cost of the Blade and I don't want to jinx it.

I have a G90 to put on too. But one step at a time.

I fly a TREX with all the Bling, but when it goes in, it really hurts. The Blade... I just shrug my shoulders, slap a new main shaft and gear in, maybe a fresh set of blades and I'm ready to wip it up again.

Cheers,
Lee

Yep, these little CPs are almost disposable.. I dove in to the serious mod-fest when I decided to start tweaking my CP. CNC frame, brushless, DD tail, computer Tx. It flies SO much better now than out of the box...

I'm gonna order up an HDX300 in the very near future and build it up from scratch then probably sell my CP..

Still haven't wadded up my 450SE but I know once I get over that 1st crash, I'll relax and just fly it. Same with the 600 (once I get it finished)

By the time you get done with these upgrades, there's really nothing left of the original CP.

Have fun. I'm going to try the Brushless in a week or so. Just finished rebuilding Rexy #1 with a CF Frame kit. Took it out tonight, and it's ALOT twitchier then the old XL Frame, going to take some getting used to.

Cheers!
