Sorry guys to ask a dumb question

when doing a range check with your 14mz
do you put the antenna in and have it folded all the way down

or

do you leave the antenna out altogether

and

how far is safe ??? 30 feet ,,, 50 feet

many thanks

Hmmm... I haven't used the 14M, but the recommendations I've seen for the transmitters I use: you want the antenna folded all the way down, and make the hike more like 100 feet.

Antenna mounted, folded according to Futaba.

100 feet is recommended by futaba, I try to get 150 with no motor running and about 125 with motor running (electric heli)

In a 36% Katana,8 HS5955TG servos+2 72oz servos and DA100, with no antenna I get ~100 ft. With antenna in and all sections collapsed, I get over 400 ft, both with the engine running. The 5014 has the short antenna.

I have ferrite beads on choke and throttle servos.

DA100 +ignition module to choke-throttle servos ~5 inches, then ~1ft to 5014RX,
regulators-batteries and servo wires.

Did the ultimate range test today, with only 2 sections total, I fly my glider plane ~1000feet up and out with no problems. Throttle did not cut back and surfaces deflect to one side. ~10minutes of flying.
