Since the subject has come up, Concerning SFOC's in Canada, the place to go to get the info needed is here:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/air/menu.htm

In the search bar, type in UAV. What you will see are numerous topics concerning the how's and why's of doing commercial Aerial Photography in Canada. Some of the topics may not apply, some will VERY much apply, so read carefully.

If you have questions, and you will  , I would suggest contacting Transport Canada directly.

Certain individuals have worked long and hard with Transport Canada, getting certain aircraft certified, getting procedures in place, leading the way, as it were, for the rest of us. For that, I Thank You.

As I understand it, it's not that difficult, just takes some time and some work on your part. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it!!

For those working on or thinking about similar issues in the U.S., you might take a look and see what's on the Horizon.....If you don't like what you see, don't just complain about it, get involved.

If you don't care one way or another, then don't get involved, the decisions will be made for you.

I'll second what Chris says, if you are a commercial AP operator, or plan on doing AP commercially, get involved. There will be some form of regulation coming from the FAA in the very near future.

A good place to start is at http://www.rcapa.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1061

Of course, you could just sit back, relax, and let a few of us speak for you....... :D

Mark well said, so often many sit back and let a few take care o buisness. I have seen it up in Canada first hand. For those in Canada, just get ahold of transport Canada and they will be more than helpful. Here in the US I sugest more get involved rather than sit and complain later

Beyond the link Mark posted you can also look at the two standards groups that are working hard right now.

www.rtca.org
SC-203

www.astm.org
F38

Both groups have represenatives from this aspect of "UAS" working hard to keep the amount of regulation to a managable level.

Also keep your eyes out on the FAA's site in the coming months for the actual Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.
There will be a public comment period that ANYBODY can participate in.
I suggest you do so when it happens.
