The sim is very different. I know somebody that is great on the sim but when he hovered his trex it didn't go so well. Just remember to still use a training gear and not try anything above a couple of inches untill you feel comfortable flying. The sim well have helped you alot, just get comfortable and than try what you feel cabable of. I would use the 401 since it is heading hold and a very nice gyro. 501 is non heading hold and has been discontinued. Just remember to not try anything to fast and always do a preflight and know what all the switches do on you radio: oh and have fun.

Being another newbie I can't but second everything zflarez said.
I can do all kinds of things in RF3 but when is the real thing on the air (the one you can't fix with the red button on yourt tx) things are VERY different.
The sim certainly helps a lot, I guess if it wasn't for it I would have crashed a lot more, but put those trining legs on and stay very low and don't get it too close to you or anyone either. In few words do not put yourself in a position where you have to make quick decisions.
Good luck, and be careful.

Hey Carlo.
I would say if you have developed your basics skills on the simulator i believe you will have a successful maiden, not to mention you said it was setup correctly already. I only flew a crappy cp a few times before i made my first attempt at my Raptor 60 just last weekend. Fast forward flight, Inverted, Autos, Funnels and i credit my simulator to my success since i only started last Aug. If you are not going to a field to fly i would suggest no audience, no distractions.
Have FUN and let us know how it goes!

Hi Carlo,
Welcome to heliworld!! Couple points from a new guys perspective:
I have found sometimes the SIM is easier, sometimes my EVO 50 is, depends on what your doing. The SIM will definatley allow you to adjust to different orientations, i.e tail in, nose in, sideways, inverted, etc.. Ya just can't beat the red button :-)
I've had a couple crashes, don't really likethat aspect, however love to fly. When it comes to flying ya kinda just need to follow the Nike adds "just do it"
You mentioned two gyros, if you are going to fly this on your own I would say fly it as it is set up now, DONT change anything until you have someone help you ensure it's proprly setup. A reveresed gryo can send you into prio heaven.
Happy flyin'

you need to fly without being able to think about it, I find that if I have to think abou the movment on my sticks I get in trouble, you need confidence in knowing you know what your doing already in order to progress to the next level.
I just had my 50 out yesterday and my 50 size copters scare me, I had a crash a few weeks ago at OC bobs Funfly and that knocked alot of the scare out me, once you have that out of the way it opens doors for new things.
I was able to complete cirlces by my 5 th tank and was dead on left side hover in 15 mph winds by my 3rd tank, I also had a 40 foot auto and about 20 other little baby autos that I was able to work on successfully.
By my 5th tank the only thing I was fearing was having to go home.
