Can I take the 2.4GHz module from my DX6 and put it in my JR xp8103? I would like to control my Evo .50 with the safety of spread spectrum technology but can't really afford to buy a DX7.

I can't believe you are considering it......

In the first place the DX-6 is DSM and only one rx, the AR-6000 will work with the thing. I don't think Horizon even sells DX-6 radios anymore although you can still buy AR-6000 rx's the last time I checked.

I'm a heli newbie but have lots of plank experience so I'm not familiar with the heli you mention, but it sounds like a nitro bird? Neither the DX-6 or the AR-6000 are supposed to be used in anything but Park Flyers or small electrics.

You know, I guess I didn't think about the 6 channel part of it. Yes, my Evo is nitro. I would like to go 2.4 GHz without having to buy a new TX (since I have a DX6). Thanks for helping me realize what the heck I was even asking - I love this forum! I suppose I'll have to sell one of my Trex 450s so I can get a used DX7 and AR 7000.

Look at the new module and 7 channel receiver Spektrum has out that will fit your 8103. It is DSM2 and appears to work really well. Price is about $110 for the receiver and module.

Aha! I thought there was a way for the fiscally bound to achieve 2.4GHz. Thanks! :banana

The more I think about it the more it makes sense to sell my 8103 and rx and combine that money with the same $110 I would have spent on the module and just buy a USED DX7 and AR7000. Now to sell my 8103 and find a good price on a DX7...
